I just added the wired keypad today following his writeup. Cost me $130 shipped for the parts and a few hours of time.

I don't know how long Ford will leave the wiring in the door, but it's a worthwhile mod for me (even though it never should have been deleted in the first place).
10 days living with this mod, and I use it almost every day. This is my first Ford, so I've never had the keypad before.

So - I'm very grateful for this forum and that my 2025 still had the wiring available in the door, and it's even more egregious to me now that I've used it that Ford dropped this.

So ford will eventually stop leaving the wiring. Does that mean the module that that wiring is going to change too? Does anyone know where that door cable plugs into? What module?
My thoughts are to pre purchase the cable. And pick up the module. For later modifications in the event I buy a newer truck.
That might not happen if I get locked out of obd access. If I can't see the network and lose full access to repairs and modifications because ford applies encryption.
Its going to get harder and harder to do our own repairs like swapping out moduals. My audio guy expressed concerns that they might not be able to install aftermarket sound systems because they have a need to tether into the data buss.

My 2023 is my first Ford, but I knew about the keypad from other owners. I don't use it daily, but I use it multiple times a week. If I am running errands and getting in and out of the truck a lot, my default is to just lock the key in the center storage bin and use the keypad all day long.

Loosing the keypad is like losing adjustable seats. I have a idea that the key pad must be a point of a security issue and ford is not saying. There are things we as ford owners need to voice out.

I think it's nothing more than cost cutting.

They are constantly thinking of ways of decontenting that won't cause a real ripple event in sales. When the keypad came up for debate, the arguments against were most likely...

1) Not everyone uses it/wants it
2) Many workarounds after its removed (FOB, Ford Pass AP)
3) Will someone really switch brands over this feature, I assume they felt an overwhelming majority would not.

So I have always used my keypad, and can't imagine life without it- but it really saved me hundreds of dollars the other day- like many owners, my Telematics Control Unit quit working. Unfortunately, it was while I was inside the store, with my keys locked inside. So, no app connectivity. Can't open the doors without the TCU working. BUT, I had the keypad. I was able to punch in my code and unlock my door, where I would have had to call a towtruck to try and get in, on a Sunday, at 8:00pm. I'm sure that would have been cheap. Thank you, lowly keypad, for saving me $$$!

I often work in no data areas. Today was one. I lock my truck always when getting out. Ford pass app is not going to work in dead zone areas. It's also super slow to pass commands. Just remote starting at home with multiple wifi and cellular internet takes up to 1 min to pass to my truck. I will never pay the dealer for the scrapy aftermarket keypad. Actually I won't buy a new ford if it doesn't have rain sensing wipers. Or the new tail gate without the retractable step. I'm 5.5 and I need to get up into the bed. Actually ford is cutting alot of the comfort things that don't cost hardly anything.
Is the 7300w generator still available? If not what's the point of a hybrid? It doesn't save gas.
