I had no idea the F-250 seats were bigger. I guess the Super Duty really is a big boy truck.
They’re an unnoticeable amount larger. The main difference is thickness of the foam and density.

Good info, thanks! I'm not a big guy at all 5'8 ~165lbs and I find the seats in my XLT start to get uncomfortable after a few hours. I feel like sturdier cushion would help, so I very well may look into this. Do you know if the part number is the same for both front seats?

Timely, since I am currently in the market for a used F-150 that will probably be a 2022 - 23. Now, my old pickup is a 2004 F-250 with front bench seating, so I doubt that the new seats be found wanting by comparison with that (I make an 8 hour each way drive to some vaca property we have about 2x per year, and that is painful), but this is good to know if I don't like the seats in the new (to me) truck. Is it fair to assume that the same process would be applicable to the front passenger seat?

No issues with my 22 xlt seats. Driven 14 hours straight no discomfort. Go sit in a Chevy then check back
Chevy seats are a weird one… they feel awful when you first sit in them (every time). BUT, hours can go by and, your back is fine… “these seats seem uncomfortable but… actually aren’t” kind of situation

Interesting discovery. Everyone is built different. I find my heated cooled lariat seat quite comfortable. If Raptor seats are so comfortable would those foams swap? And does the F250 foam swap with the massage seats?

I find my F-150s seats extremely comfortable as does my wife.

I'm used to Volvos FYI, which have the best seats in the industry.

How was the dealer today picking up an air filter. Decided to go sit in a couple different super duties.

One was an XLT and one was an XL

Funny but I thought the seats were rather hard and stiff.

I’m like 511 and 225 so I think I’m average size in a weight. I don’t think I would like these seat seats or at least this foam in the super duties.

Just goes to show you everybody’s different

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
195-210 depending on the season. Everyone that's been in the front seats for more than 30 minutes hates them. This forum is chock full of complaints since this gen rolled out.
This is total BS. I've done many drives of over 750 miles in a day. As far as 960 miles in a day. Best seats I've ever put my Tush on.

I agree, the 24 XLT seats work for me

I will say the tundra I had the seats were extremely comfortable for about an hour. After that, they were shit.

This thread and the literal list I posted say otherwise. That's great you're happy, most of us aren't.

Man, if I could get a Volvo seat in my truck... I'd be set lol!

I think the problem is manufacturers are not only trying to lessen cost, but also use recyclable materials, and improve sitting cycles on seats. All that does is make seats firmer and firmer. I don't really get the want to have firmer seats, it's like sitting on a bench- unless form means something else to commenters. I'd take a 1985 Lincoln pillow-top if I could lol!

The seats in 21 and newer F-150s suck. XL, STX, XLT, and Lariat all suck. KR and Platinum are better but not great. The most common complaint is the center of the seat is too soft and bolsters too hard giving the feeling of sitting on a bucket. I added foam under the seat of my 22 and it helped a bit but was never great. Funny enough Ford just announced a contract extension for their seat supplier.

For my new 2025 I went a different direction. The F-250 has the same type of seat as the F-150 since 2023. The part number for the F-250 driver seat foam is PC3Z-15632A23-A. This foam is both denser and firmer and around 1/2" larger in every direction including thickness. It reminds me of the foam that was in the seat of my 2018. For whatever reason the seat foam used in the F-150 since 2021 is full of porosity and other cavities and just doesn't seem like a high quality piece. The seat in my 6-month old truck had a huge void in the foam as shown below. The process to swap it out is as follows.

If you have a power seat, unbolt it first but DO NOT unplug it. Disconnect the battery before unplugging the seat. Get it out of the truck and pull the side over off. There's one screw up front and one in the rear. Disconnect the plug for the adjustment buttons and set it aside.

Unbolt his metal bracket with two screws. Getting it out of the way gives you more room.

1762618111410-t2.webp

Pull on the clips holding the cushion and upholstery to the frame. They kind of roll off. Work your way around and get the ones at the rear of the seat undone as well.

1762618186012-nw.webp

Pull the cushion up and out of the seat frame. If you have a heated seat you'll need to disconnect the plug for that. You can carefully peel off your heating element and transfer it to the new foam.

1762618242562-3q.webp

Roll the upholstery off the foam. Part is held in by velcro and part by the plastic rods clipped into the foam. It's self-explanatory to get them out, just use a screwdriver or pick to pop them out. Note the voids already visible.

1762618565195-lx.webp

Get the upholstery off and you can look to see how bad the F-150 foam is. This truck is only 6 months old and has never had anything spilled. That weird area is porosity and voids. Those areas are all over the foam but this is the worst part. I've seen a few others over the last few years and they all had areas like this.

1762618664819-rk.webp

F-150 foam on the left, F-250 foam on the right.

1762618704603-ih.webp

Same again. The original F-150 foam on the left sure doesn't look like something that should go into a $50K or more vehicle.

1762618758442-vj.webp

F-250 foam is 1 1/4' thick in the center to the rib.

1762618811686-jz.webp

F-150 foam is around 3/4" to the same place. Again more voids in the foam.

1762618845643-3z.webp

I was using two layers of foam previously. When I put the new cushion in I only re-used the blue layer. Up to you if you want to do this, it just adds a bit of plushness. When replacing the upholstery, lay it on the foam inside out. Start in the center and clip it in going outwards. Get the velcro in place and roll the fabric over the edges. Reinstall as you took apart.

Finished product. Ignore the scratches, the power seat in my STX came from a junkyard. This is a MUCH more comfortable end product.

I've never complained about the comfort of the seats in any of my XLTs.
The side bolster of drivers seat i wish was better tho....its been replaced once under warranty....I'll explore some options now tho cause warranty is done.
Im slim so the sitting in them i actually want more sidewall bolster.
