Question: what garage exhaust hose is everyone using connected to the PowerBoost tailpipe?

Well it’s early into winter but I already got the opportunity to power my home with the PowerBoost while the rest of the neighborhood sits in the dark. The truck is far exceeding my expectations

Now that I’m using it, I would love to park the truck in the garage in the next outage instead of leaving it running in the driveway all night

I’ve done a lot of research and landed on Dayco so far but it seems really expensive
I just want a way to vent the exhaust fumes outside while the truck is in the garage

Could you use dryer ducting?
Make sure to get a carbon monoxide detector for the garage and house while you are at it. Any exhaust leak (weep hole in resonator for example) will still pose a threat to you. Just be careful.
Great idea on the carbon monoxide monitor. I have them by the bedrooms but not by the garage door. Definitely worth an investment

I’m looking into the same thing just for remote start warmups. I live in Southern California so our “cold” isn’t much at all…but I already have a c02 detector in the garage and it doesn’t read anything during the initial couple minutes of startup. I would like to run a vent hose though, and will probably just rig something up with dryer ducting hose and an exhaust fan.

I was curious why a dryer vent wouldn’t just work. The specific garage vents are 10x more expensive so there must be something to it

It’s been tried before. The exhaust vent just allows for hot air to be transported through throughout the it does not seal well enough to keep the noxious fumes from leaking.

This really isn’t something you want to cheap out on

Dryer hoses are cheap and flimsy. They are pretty large and in order to seal them you would need a zip tie or tape neither are conducive to putting on and removing from a truck.
The correct hoses look better, much more durable and are made for what you need. Just cough up the $70-$100.
In the grand scheme of things, it's not that much.

As a long time firefighter be extremely carful with the exhaust venting system you go with. Have it professionally installed and tested. Multiple CO detectors too. I have been to dwelling fires where a running riding and push lawn mowers left in a garage that started fires ? . My recommendation is have the truck outside hooked up and running.

All very helpful information. I’ll make sure and get the certified hose I was mainly just curious why the price difference
If at all possible I’ll leave the truck outside as @Chappy133 recommended but I do like the option of pulling it in if need be
Sounds like I’ll be looking at Dayco and Crushproof

I have a setup in My rv garage
The tail pipe is a tail pipe..pipe thst is routed through the wall to 4 feet past outside wall.
It goes through heat shield ducting the plumbers use for water heaters gas or oil exhaust
Plus several carbon monoxide detector
And equally important is a Fresh air supply duct on opposite side of exhaust . It has to provide more air than engine needs.
Downside.. many
It's emergency only..it's set up.
But only used 2x in ten or so years.
Its not a best option

Like if I cant get other generators up and going outside
You also bring in tons of air that is whatever it is outside.
And a mean suction fan..I have a 1200 cfm fan in high point of roof
It will dammmm near prevent you from closing a door

Not mention you have an engine..running with it's heat, fumes. Etc.

Be safe..Park the pb outside to ppwer the house
Maybe put a carport up to park it under outside if you can

Huge difference in doing a few minute engine tune..with a pipe going outside versus running for hours or days

This assumes your garage is attached to your house
If it's a non connected structure, that changes alot of items

The exhaust weep holes will still allow CO to build up. You need a negative pressure (sucker fan) to even remotely consider trying this as well as a CO monitor. Most deaths from 'generators' is CO poisoning -- it's a silent killer.

I'd also be concerned about heat produced by the truck.

Yup that heat has to go somewhere
Even my roof fan and side vents open
It gets a bit warm.
Which at the last time was good as it was 17 outside

Dunno, my truck doesn't fit in the garage. Plus, Ford warns you to only use the Pro Power while outside. I agree with them. :)
