So I'm looking at getting a truck camper, which I will then be living out of full time. I don't really want a trailer because I don't feel like having to tow something constantly, or having to deal with a trailer.

The camper I'm looking at the most is a Soaring Eagle Campers Adlar 6.5 XLS.

ADLAR 6.5XLS Truck Camper | Soaring Eagle Campers | All-Aluminum Truck Campers

The dry weight is really low and I don't have to worry about a pop top or anything like that.

Was thinking of adding a sway-bar and a superspring to the back of my truck.

Is that something I should do? or wait until I get the camper to see how she rides. My trucks rated payload is a little over 1900lbs for reference and the campers dry weight is under 1200lbs.

If you're full timing I would suggest a camper or jumping up to an F-250 gasser. While the payload on these newer trucks is certainly impressive, mine is 1,977 lb... By the time you add your gear since you're full time - you'll probably be over with little room for error.

No water, does it even include the weight of a battery? Your clothes and gear etc. It all adds up. You could certainly full-time with a reasonable camper and an F-150 though. Just food for thought.

That weight does include a 100ah battery. I'll probably add another one but they usually run around the 30lb mark. With the weight of the camper I'm looking at I'll have a little over 700lbs to work with. I've been weighing the stuff I would need (I lived out of an Xterra for 9 months) and so far it is coming to about 300lbs, but I am giving myself a 500lb limit. With 200lbs left that should be more than enough for water and the amount of food I would be able to carry.

Don't forget you need to add your weight in there as well.

If you are able to make it work, and be well under weight limits, what I have found with the Super Duty realm, if the truck has the factory slide in camper package, they'll come with sway bars installed. I know a number of people that have ran the Sumo springs and have been happy with those as well. Keep us posted.

I looked into this some time ago and the answer kept coming up F-250.

I could have made an F-150 work but never could get the gross weight down enough. So it was either get the camper set-up I wanted or get the truck I wanted (I wanted an F-150 at the time). So the truck won and the camper idea was put on hold.

May revisit the camper idea down the road but it will be with a gasser F-250.

I don’t full time but I have a small capri camper I use often that weighs in at like 900lbs dry. My payload is right at 2000lbs since I have a SuperCab and the truck handles it fine but it did sag the rear. I added RAS to my rear springs and it helped a lot with the sag and sway
