2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
I have a 36 gallon tank. Have never filled up with 30 or more gallons so far. On long trips always start the day with a full tank and refuel every other bathroom break which is 260-280 miles.

Its just the way I roll....

Yep
I can confirm, I usually let it go down to the low fuel warning and put in an average of 28 gallons each time. So 30 gal. of gross volume sounds right.
Rolled into Tupelo, MS recently and put 29.5gal in mine. I don't care to do that again!

Hi All!
Trying to confirm the fuel tank size for the 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid.
Looking at dealer inventory and pulling up their window stickers, all it says is "standard fuel tank".
From the order guide, it looks like the 36 gal tank is "deleted" when selecting the PowerBoost hybrid option.

Does that mean 23 gallons, and is there an option available to increase that to 36?

Thanks a lot!
My 2021 powerboost has a 30.6 gal tank. Average 25mpg around town, as much as 29mpg highway cruising at 60-65 mph. I know when I tow my Travel trailer it will drop to 9-10mpg.

My 2021 has a 30 gal tank
No, standard tank is 30.6 gal. Instead of saying standard tank they could have said standard tank 30.6 gal. They list the extended range as 36 gal extended range. Even the two dealers I contacted when first looking at a new powerboost said it was a 23 gal tank. That wasn’t going to work for me pulling the travel trailer which at best gets 9 mpg with my ‘14 Ecoboost.

I am in the same boat.
23 gals would have been a deal breaker, 36 gals would be ideal, but 30 gals are workable, I believe.

My '12 5.0 had the 36 gallon extended tank. Only a few weeks since getting my '22 PB and I'm already exceeding the max tank miles I'd get from the old truck (despite 5.1 gallons less fuel), and have a lot more power/torque at my disposal. Gotta love tech advancement

Really? That’s good to hear! I’m trading my 2012 for a Powerboost as well. My 2012 has the 3.5 and 36 gal tank and in the winter I’m lucky to get 17 on the hwy, going 72-74 mph on a long road trip. 570-610 miles was about all the range I’d get. Hoping the Powerboost does better. The rental Powerboost I drove last summer got 22 going 80 mph, driving across Texas and New Mexico!! I was blown away!

I have gotten 29-30 on cruise control at 60mph with my 2021 powerboost XLT letting all the speedy gonzalis drivers just pass me by from Myrtle Beach, SC to Stratford, CT. No rush when your retired, 70 yrs old and saving gas and that pension money for my kids inheritance. LOL

My truck’s prev owner installed a set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers just before selling. They are loud & HEAVY. I’m expecting my MPG/range to get better after I install a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 next week. They are supposedly around 21 lbs PER TIRE LIGHTER. Reducing all that rotating mass should make a noticeable difference. One thing to keep in mind when everyone is discussing their results is these trucks vary so much based upon tire/lift kit changes.

The true test for me will be when I’m trailering (7k lbs) my racecar from NJ to MO and back this Memorial Day. It’s an open trailer so that helps aero a bit but I’m hoping to see somewhere around 10+ MPG which equates to 300+ tank range that I would be happy with. Anxious to test it out when weather gets a bit nicer where I am.

I think that is a reasonable expectation, considering my avg. tow mpg is 8.xx, pulling the same weight but a lot less aerodynamic. There is some curve to the nose but the camper is 11'-4" tall and 8' wide.

Good choice in tires, I’m on my second set right now. In fact, since they have less than 10k miles, I’m swapping them out with the tires on the new truck since it has 34k on them. They outperform all but 1 brand of all-terrains (barely) in snow and ice. I dunno why they still don’t have a severe snow service rating.

I just ran some errands in town dropping off some donations items etc., and I kept the truck running for the duration because the dogs enjoy going with. Remember I’m driving the 3rd fastest production truck while posting these numbers. Cold start from my driveway this morning.
