Hi All!
Trying to confirm the fuel tank size for the 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid.
Looking at dealer inventory and pulling up their window stickers, all it says is "standard fuel tank".
From the order guide, it looks like the 36 gal tank is "deleted" when selecting the PowerBoost hybrid option.

Does that mean 23 gallons, and is there an option available to increase that to 36?

Thanks a lot!

30 gallon tank is the one and only option for the powerboost.
Thanks!
Hmm. Better than 23 gallons, but since my usage is probably around 30% of the miles towing our travel trailer, 36 gals would be better.
Is that information actually listed somewhere? I couldn't find it, and the buying guide only lists 23 or 36 gallon options.

Indeed, PB has but one tank. 36g cannot fit due to space used by the HVB

I can confirm, I usually let it go down to the low fuel warning and put in an average of 28 gallons each time. So 30 gal. of gross volume sounds right.

30 gals will do you fine towing except out west---fill up when you reach 1/2 tank

Had the same confusion. I would have ordered last fall but was told the powerboost tank was 25 gal. Checked my butt feel gas stops towing the travel trailer to Texas last month and it was around twenty gallons so 30.6 will do fine. Ford could do better on their literature by stating 30.6 instead of standard tank on the window sticker. Out west it is best to “See Gas? Buy it!” At least that was my motto on my motorcycle trips where a four gallon tank really limited range.

2023 PB 501a 4x4 short bed 7.2KW. PL=1658lbs.
YMMV but towing a 7Klb. travel trailer with my PB, avg. towing mileage is in the 8ish range. Better in the mountains (up to 14), not so great in the flat and wind (a couple legs were sub 7).

Mine is 11'-"4 tall so, a lighter, shorter trailer would likely do better.

Anyway, I plan on getting fuel every 200 miles or less and pre-plan the trip to assure there is a station where I need it and can get the rig in. And even then, a couple have been pretty tight.

I just filled my PB up from the lowest it’s ever been, surprised I even made it to the pump: 30.953 gallons went in. DTE said 10 miles left

Funny I must be too old school to feel comfortable running it to fumes. Back in the day was risking fuel pump damage. I’m sure our modern fuel pumps have much higher tolerances.

They do, but you still shouldn't.

That is why Ford generally programs 0 miles DTE with a few gallons remaining. The remaining fuel isn't for range, but instead for the sake of the fuel pump.

The powerboost absolutely does not leave a few gallons remaining in their DTE calc unless the tank is actually larger than 30.6.

I have put in up to 30.8 gallons in my tank with not many miles on the DTE calc (less than 10 iirc).
I usually fill up around the 28.5 gallon to full mark
