Today my FordPass app will not update no matter what I try. I’ve even finally deleted the app and reinstalled. It would not remote start either. My vehicle battery is a 12.9, so it’s okay. Any ideas?
In the Ford app, go to connected services at the bottom of the first page. Scroll down and go to contact us. Call the number for Alexa, etc. I've found them slow but helpful. If they're not the right people they'll connect you or transfer you to the people that are.
I got hold of Ford and they turned off connections in Sync and then had me turn it back on. No reset. They said it shows I’ve not communicated with the modem in two days, so I need to go to Ford. It’s possible a master reset of the modem might bring it back but it looks like it’s gone bad. Ugh. I have Ford ESP but it will take forever to get it going I fear. Not a huge deal, but I use the FordPass app to keep track of tire pressure, oil life and so on.
Well, last night it started working again and still connects this morning. Who knows? There’s little sense in taking it to Ford now because they’ll never find the problem while it’s operational. Thanks
Your TCU is failing. Mine is doing that right now. Sometimes it won’t work within one hour after the truck is shutoff. Then sometimes it will work for a whole day. And sometimes it won’t work even when the truck is on.
It has a sporadic trouble code for TCU Ethernet failure. Mine is at the dealer right now being checked out. I was not sure to bring it to the dealer since it happens intermittently. However they told me they saw the TCU failure in the history so said there is some kind of problem and are willing to take a look at it.
Hold the radio power button and the FF button while truck is running, the radio will reset, no data lost and it should work after that. I had the same issue this past few days and that fixed it.
Worse case scenario, before I would ever hand my keys to anyone at a service department, I'd manually reset the TCU myself. It's behind the passenger side rear seat on the back cab-wall.
There's 3(?) harnesses, I believe. Unplug them. (Or maybe check them to see if they are well connected?)
The TCU has capacitors that store energy and those take a long time (several hours, ~overnight) to dissipate as far as getting it to reboot from scratch after unplugging it.
My Ford Pass App stopped working on the 9th. I called the Ford Pass help line on the 15th and was told since my truck hasn't connected in over 3 days that I needed to take it in. I took it in on the 18th and was told they had reset it on their end. When I picked it up, it still wouldn't connect. I removed the app from my phone and reinstalled it, now can't get my truck back on the app, even with a really good cell signal.
I did notice that on the 9th when it quit working I also got a OTA for I'm guessing is the TCU.
The Code for the OTA was "TCU 25-25.2.5.9.1"
I wonder if the OTA is the culprit. While searching this Forum I have seen several others with similar issues.
If I try the unplugging the TCU method, should I disconnect the battery first?
I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but since it is being read I'm gonna add to it.
I went to where I had a good cell signal and tried to add the truck to Ford Pass again. Fail.
I called the Ford Pass helpline and after about 20 minutes they told me to call the Ford Tech. Hotline tomorrow during business hours.
I'm gonna unplug the TCU overnight and try again tomorrow before trying the Hotline.
Also what is kinda strange is that I have my son's 2015 Mustang on the App and it still shows up, however the Ford Pass helpline said it wasn't visible on their end. Maybe because the Mustang doesn't receive OTA's???
My Ford Pass app does give me notifications that the attempt to connect has failed.
Interesting.
Definitely looks like a newer design TCU?
If I had to guess they split the widest connector into 2 separate connectors, and the unit itself is flipped front<>back with some kind of heatsink added?
