Ford has saving money on recalls down to an art. Manufacturers are required by law to issue recalls when there's a problem, especially safety issues, to anyone who has purchased their product. I received a notice around 30 months ago concerning the wiper motor could stop working however, every time I take it to have a new one installed, I'm asked if I'm having trouble with mine. The answer is no, I'm not. Their response is due to a product shortage, bring it back when you have a problem. My response is, who do I need to sue when it stops going down the interstate in a pouring down rain? Why have a recall when you don't have the parts to correct the problem? Thirty months is long enough to get a part before it goes out. Ford is actually saving money and only replacing the failed parts and using the product shortages as excuses, therefore meeting their legal obligation. Folks have been back to work long enough since the COVID days for part supplies to be back to normal. I love my '21 Ford King Ranch F150 but these excuses are really getting old.

So here's my thought on this. It may be right or not.
At present time Ford is just replacing the ones that are currently acting up due to limited availability and will catch up on ALL of them once the supply is there.
It does make sense, but I do see your point also.

Have they confirmed you have one of the bad batch of motors?

If not, it isn't difficult to check it yourself as outlined in recall but you'll need a mirror.

Per recall unless you have the recalled part there is no work to be done and you are wasting time for you and the dealer.

The recall isn't going away. You'll still get a new motor if you qualify with one of the "bad" numbers.

From my understanding it is only a limited number of motors in a batch that failed so they recalled all of them. Odds in your favor that you'll never have any issues with yours and still get replaced if it qualifies.

Remember that any trucks on dealer lots are legally required to have this fixed before sale so that is where the bulk of the supply was going at the start of the recall. I bought my truck used this spring and the recall was done on it before it ever got to me. Probably a lot of used trucks coming off lease that never had the recall work done and that will hit the supply. Dealers will always prioritize something they can sell over a truck not showing any signs of issues.

I think I remember reading the recall and it said something like less than 1% of the trucks produced had a bad motor installed. I guess I'd hope mine is one of the 99% that are OK and not have the motor replaced (which requires a lot of the cowl be pulled apart) and not risk damage in the process unless the motor actually does fail.

I would go to a different dealer. I took my truck in for service back in May for a different issue and my dealer performed the recall. I never had an issue with the wipers, and basically ignored the recall.

There was multiple wiper recalls on my truck and my dealer had no problem getting the parts. I think with what you said I`m with you, something seems a little out of wack. Maybe I just got lucky with my truck but that would be a first. GLTA

Same for me. Took mine in for oil change and without prompting notified me when I went to pick it up they had replaced wiper motor and arms per 22S12 & 23S10. All dealers are not the same. Great experience with this dealer in neighboring town. Would not return to my local dealer if I was on fire in street in front of their service department.

Even if you don't need the motor they still have to pull everything apart just to look at the motor you have currently to see if it is part of the recall.

The wiper arm recall to me is more serious. Motor I am just assuming it will be obvious that it is failing and not just suddenly not work one day.

Took my truck into Oil Change in SE Michigan a few weeks ago. Was told I have bad motor but no parts available. They actually told me to pull off the road if the motor breaks in a rain storm. I just looked at the rep with a dumfounded look and asked are you serious? Yes ford had a huge quality issues like simple things aka lugnuts that they went to 2 part system on and now expand every 3 to 4 years on all three Edges that I own.

At least the lugnuts you can DIY a solution with old style nuts. Not a Ford thing every brand does the two piece thing for many years.

Please tell us how to check to see if our motor is one of the defective ones. I have not been able to find the information online.
My recall came in January of 2023 on a new truck I bought in October of 2022. I have a problem with Ford selling me a truck for $60,000 knowing it had defects and not be trusted to replace defective parts used in building it. The first recalls were issued a year or longer before I bought the truck, yet they continued selling the trucks with defective motors. That sounds like a big chunk of liability on the part of Ford!

Most likely it was already checked for recall before you bought it.
You have to remove the cowl and use mirror to see underside of motor for specific numbers. It's what dealer will do.

It's been posted here before the Ford directions but I don't know what thread it is in where I looked at it.

Yeah, I had called around for months and no one could do it because they didn't have motors. Had another problem where it had to go in and I asked about it. Said they would "test" it and see if I needed a new one. Of course, I didn't. I do have trust issues with Ford dealers here, but I haven't had any wiper problems either.

Ford is always doing this crap. They told my parents to park their navigator outside because it might catch on fire, over a year, still no fix. A few months ago my 2018 f150 police responder lost a wiper arm, it has all of 24k miles. I was stopped at an intersection in light rain when it went flying off into the intersection. I activated my emergency lights, collected it, and went straight to the dealership that was luckily two blocks away.

My dealer called me a few weeks ago to tell me they had the part (for a while apparently) so I needed to come in or they had to return it. Seems that the person who should have contacted me was on medical leave and no one else followed up. Had no issues prior to the fix.
