Hoo boy, that torque difference at 2500 rpm will be noticeable.

TFL dropped a video on YouTube today of the Ranger Raptor with a similar factory tune upgrade and the results were promising. Roughly half a second improvement in the quarter mile and 0-60.

Unless you use select shift to lock your trans into a specific gear at 2500RPM, you may never notice the added torque. If you give your truck enough throttle to hit 510 lb-ft at 2500RPM, it is going to downshift to a lower gear unless you prevent it from doing so.

The 60ft time might be a little faster, but not much. Stock my truck would run a 2.16s 60ft, but with 500HP and 600 lb-ft it ran a 1.88s 60ft. My 0-60 went from 5.68s stock, to 4.44s tuned.

Really depends on the strategy -- if they program it right, it could hold gears longer instead of downshifting if it's not a substantial load. Granted boost and fuel economy aren't friends, but 1st gear is pretty substantial. Especially for those w/ low 3.x gears. It won't turn an ecoboost into a PB, but it should still be pretty decent.

Very fair point, but in my experience it's hard to hit full boost at 2500RPM unless you are being very deliberate. Hitting full boost at 2500RPM without using select shift just seems very unlikely because even at full throttle the turbos just don't spool up too quickly below 2500RPM.

When I'm trying to get a good datalog that low in the RPM range, I need to start out at around 2000RPM or less in 5th gear and I'm only hitting full boost right before 2500RPM. I hit 510 lb-ft around 2400RPM, and 560 lb-ft at 2500RPM on my current mild tune.

This might be a dumb question:l, but do you have to leave the river plugged in? What’s stopping someone from tuning, then letting their buddy tune?

Though I didn't spell that out, I was envisioning a boosted launch, presumably in 4wd on on slicks. I guess it would also partly depend on how tight the converter is, though I doubt a factory converter would flash much higher than 2500, I could be wrong.

It depends on how much the tune limits dual foot torque. The stock tune won't let you flash the converter too high, but I can easily flash it over 3000RPM with a tune.

I normally stall up to 2500RPM and wait for the boost gauge to show 1-3psi. Any more boost than that at 2500RPM and I spin the tires hard, but I'm always on all-season or winter tires. Slicks at a drag strip could launch much harder, but a 1.8x 60ft is as good as I'll get on the street.

no it's vin locked. like they all are. upload the tune, remove the "tuner". you can leave it on if you wanna monitor stuff but that novelty wears off quickly IMHO.

Well, then maybe the extra 100 ft/lbs at 2500 isn't so useful.

Any reviews in yet? If you look at the numbers is this just FPs version of MPTs 93-PRX tune, cause looking at it quickly it’s very comparable

Keep in mind that MPT is advertising HP and torque numbers at the wheels, Ford is advertising numbers at the crank. That's why MPT's stock numbers are 354HP and 445 lb-ft. Their tune makes roughly 534HP and 605 lb-ft at the crank, that's way more than the Ford Performance tune.

I didn't fully understand this; can you elaborate?
