Are you removing a large volume of contaminates with your catch can?
Yes. A good normal amount. That said, my intercooler didn’t have anything worth noting in it.

the big issue is the cost. over 2x per can. I just have more trust in the ford unit to reduce any chance of pooling and freezing in a line which can cause blockage when compared to other aftermarket units. Blockage will push the rear main seal out in a hurry

Interesting. And this goes in my EGR line which connects the crankcase back to my intake? I currently have no catch can so I’m just burning the contaminants in the combustion chamber assuming they make it that far? Yes I’m using this forum to learn how engines work lol

The unit shouldn’t touch the egr circuit.

it should be the pcv

i would imagine driving styles play a role in this? or those short trips before the engine gets fully warmed up to temp? i know a catch can can help with the vapors and all but i also remember reading where some have stated FORD considered adding a catch can as a "mod". so what is it FORD?

Based on my observation, its really not as required as I thought initially based on my own results
Just like every other car on the the road since the 60s. I wonder how many catch-can advocates have put them on their other cars?

I get that with cheap oil and long intervals a non port-injected engine could have issues, but this should just not be a large concern. I certainly won't knock anyone for wanting to do it, as it technically does keep the intake tract cleaner at a somewhat low dollar and time cost, but people should stop feeling like this is required.

That being said I will probably do it eventually, as I'm in boost a lot with the camper.

Has anyone tried this package on their powerboost? I would think it would work just maybe where everything mounts

Is the downside the additional points of failure we introduce that can cause vacuum leaks or restrictions?

Looks like once in a while both separators have to be removed to empty them out by disconnecting he hoses and removing the separators! The left unit is also not that easy to get to. Why couldn't they just design a separator similar to J&L where you can unscrew the container part?

I think this $750 is a waste of money. I myself spent a little less than this (about $500) and got a UPR Catch Can passenger side, driver side (clean side) separator, a Billet Pro Series Check Valve added to my Continental hoses and a Billet One-Way Crankcase Breather. Saved me over $250 and yes there’s plenty of videos showing that even Fords version of the catch can requires self maintenance which seems way more difficult than a traditional catch can like UPR or JLT. My opinion is that every engine needs a catch can because every engine creates blow by gasses and pressure in which produces engine sludge. I have this whole setup from UPR including a Billet One-Way Crankcase Breather so that my engine can breathe a little bit better.

I'm not sure Ford offering a branded catch-can ensemble can be interpreted as an "end to the debate of necessity"

That's a bit of a leap.

Necessity is a strong word.

If Ford declared it a necessity, it wouldn't be an accessory. And you wouldn't need instructions for installing it. :)

Ford is taking due note of those customers that keep their trucks for the long haul. I've said it before: if your goal is the next trade-in... you don't need stuff like this. But I put one on (J&L) and found that in the winter I catch alot of fluids and in only 500 miles... Now that its summer, I catch little other than oil. Recently emptied it after ~3000 miles, about 1/8" and all oil.

You know why you catch more in winter. You are very scientific minded.
