I know that it is very early in the game, but so far, I am sorry to say that I am not sharing your joy, @Porpoise Hork .

My procedure:
- In FORScan, increased charging to 98% SOC.
- Disconnected negative cable; removed old OEM BCM.
- Put battery on charger, brought up to 100% SOC.
- Installed new replacement BCM, dated 10/26/23.
- Reset the BCM.
- Let truck sit for ~15 hours.
- Got in truck, turned on (not start), and checked SOC: 86%.
- Left on charger/maintainer for another 2 days.
- Disconnected from charger, checked SOC: dropped to 85%.
- Started truck, took on a short 30 mile drive, stopping one and shutting truck down for about 10 minutes. SOC dropped to 82%.
- SOC has been at 82% ever since. It is currently back on the charger/maintainer.

Ever since I started monitoring the SOC through PIDs, the aforementioned 86% is the highest SOC I have seen.

I started to monitor the SOC on mine too. I can charge it to 100% overnight but after a days driving is will drop to anywhere between 70 and 85%. In my short time monitoring I have seen it as low as 63%.

@FirstFord are you running just the primary and OEM aux batteries or did you ever add a piggy back to the aux setup? If not then chances are the OEM 7.5AH aux battery just cannot provide enough reserve to maintain the SOC for the 12v system. This is especially true if it is the original battery. If it is it could be significantly weaker than it was new (not that it they were all that impressive to begin with) and thus the capacity would be much lower and fail to provide much reserve power after shutdown. If this is the case then the system would end up drawing a lot more from the primary 12v. If you do have a weak auxiliary battery the BMS logic can struggle to maintain correct charge state and may trigger false deep sleep alerts or fail to correctly update the SOC even after repeated charging attempts. All of which line up with the issues you have been having.

(Had to edit this anurisim of a response a bunch of times. Kept switching between work and this and losing my place. lol)

I'm sceptical that anyone will accomplish the 90-100% SOC for resting voltage, with only AGM battery(s)

Or put another way, it's the Powerboost with the auxiliary battery being a battery chemistry that easily rests at higher than 12.8V that supports Ford's SOC algorithm hitting the 100% plateau.

Trying to outsmart the brains of my truck to extend battery life.

Truck is a garage queen - mostly in storage for future adventure in retirement.

22 Coyote.

Just swapped battery for a fresh H7 and reset BMS.

Thinking through if there is anything I can do to manage draw while it sits.

Does the automatic software update or scheduled update setting cause truck to wake up while stored? Would disabling this while in storage help preserve battery SOC?

Also have the updated BMS sensor on the way with hopes for improvement.

Ya’ll, our rigs, and this forum is the BEST!

I have upgraded to H7. New BMS sensor. Battery is being charged every time truck is running, changed SOC to 95%. Still only got 2 years out of H7. Living where I have only street parking so no battery maintainer. The truck is just a battery hog.

1. Took off old BMS
2. Fully charged battery on AGM setting of NOCO10
3. Ancel battery test "out of truck" (both terminals disconnected as was the case in charging): 100% SOC, 85% SOH, 12.85V resting, 685 CCA (It's the stock H6 @ 760 CCA).
4. Reconnected battery, BMS reset, locked up truck immediately after.
Waiting until tomorrow before I monitor. Before, resting was 12.3V max when connected and ignition on. It'll be interesting to see results 🙂

I went through the same procedures, and am VERY interested in seeing your results.

I am optimistic for you, because of the the newer date on your module compared to the 10/26/23 date on my replacement module.

I am sad to report that my 10-26-23 module installation was disappointing, with no differences in behavior.
