The big three can't see vehicles now. Wait until they increase the price even more due to the UAW demands.

GM builds the highly profitable Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty full-size pickups at Silao. In the most recent contract, the wages range from 184.35 pesos to a maximum of 679.53 pesos per day. In dollars, that's about $9.15 to $33.74 per day.

Where is OUR cut of the pie when purchasing from GM.

Labor is not profiting from the selling of vehicles. It's the board rooms and officers of each and every parts supplier to the Auto MFG's and the Auto MFG's board room and officers.
What makes you think you're entitled to shit because of GMs sound business decisions? Had UAW not been so greedy, maybe the decision to move to other counties would have been tougher.

Ford is the only one still run partially by a family interest, which is the main driver for keeping manufacturing mostly here in the US. Keep pissing on them and Im sure they will mirror the appreciation.

Unbelievably stupid people out there not tightening bolts properly on my f150.

This is exactly it. Same reason the 5.0 is still here, the Ford family has vested interest in the V8 program and the legacy of the Mustang and their halo engine configuration. If it wasn’t for the Ford family the V8 engine would have been gone a decade ago, the bean counters and the family have gone back and forth on several things. The Ford family has pride in keeping things built in the USA with American labor. UAW was very cold to a company that fights to keep them employed. GM does not share the same management.

Fuck with the family and ford starts looking like gm real quick. I've never seen such a proud set of peabrains as UAW.

Overpriced trucks just became more overpriced lol
and sadly, people even when they get raises at any job, only try harder for a limited time. Then they go back to the same attentiveness as when they made less pay. Point being, the trucks/cars...wont get built better with better wages.
More wages, less work days, will not make vehicles better. Makes employees more money, which is great. But if you have a job, you signed off to do that job for X pay. Don't feel your getting fair share, you have the option to leave and find one that will.

As an old saying..."I was looking for a job when I found this one. "

Please shout this out to the masses of all these UAW/union haters who are HATING on the COMMON man trying to get their piece of well deserved pie! The high prices for these trucks are not from the wages being paid to these workers but profits going to the top 1%. Stop hating on your fellow (most likely middle class) American trying to get a livable wage in 2023!

UGH!

Why do you think they caved? Because they CAN pay it. If it was going to kill the company they would not have budged an inch!

Oh I am not disagreeing. Executives are over-compensated. Statistically they are no more efficient than they were 30 years ago, no more so than a common UAW worker. They don’t deserve any more money either lol.

i will be blasted, but all three need to move to better states that are right to work.
gm idled the suv plant in airlington to. GMS bread and butter

insanity,
Not blasting you, but educating. The entire country is "Right to work". Private sector collective bargaining is regulated federally (public sector bargaining is state by state, but effectively nationwide "right to work" since the Janus Supreme Court decision) and workers/employers have the essentially same rights in every state. Think or feel what you want about the UAW, Ford, unions, or anything else as long as those thoughts/feelings are grounded in reality.

I’m talking about the literal assembly. Trim pieces not aligned or snapped in correctly, the carpet cut lines, paint imperfections( I know they are robot painted but they are union inspected/passed).

the quality and timeliness of work better go way up.
Is this the unions fault or Fords fault for letting that pass inspection?

What’s stopping Ford from sending it back and saying “do better?”

UAW employees are by and large not folks I would want to hire, but there a always exceptions.

(Former UAW employee)

But the last thing I want is was my products being made by people who don’t spend their money in my community. Don’t care if that makes the products cheaper.

And I think it’s a great thing for people like me (blue collar) to be getting a “living good” wage. Corporations are shit. CEO’s are shit, and shareholders are shit. Eff them all.

Rest assured, this is not something that will alter the trajectory of Ford or the folks that work there. We are headed in the toilet - the question is how fast.

Cheers to the men and women going back to work.

The literal union stops Ford from holding employees accountable. I see it daily.

The union supports and emboldens miserable work ethic. The union craps on good work ethic.

The union NEEDS slacker employees, otherwise there is no need for the union.

You meant because WE are going to pay it. That buck is gonna get passed on to us. They "caved" because if nothing is being produced, then they WILL die.

The only thing Ford has going for it is it didn't take any of the bail out money back under Obama.

i was called in to work in a teamster shop in florida, my group was not union
we were brought in to FIX the flucks up the union folks were not getting done.
LAZY, sneaky, pretentious etc every one of them except the snapper and a very few handful of aircraft technicians.

maybe i used wrong words, but we brought the shop back into line with the contracts and got birds back on schedule, made a truck load of money working circles around the union workers that had more coffee breaks and excuses not to work . only reason for delays was the lazy entitled baffoons that felt it was OWED to them to work slow or in reverse , thinking they could squeeze more overtime. instead we took it all, with a few of their guys with us. never mind these teamsters were already making 27 to 35 an hr with every fed holiday and paid vacation plus medical for almost nothing.
i enjoyed my paychecks that were just over double what they earned. best 8 months of my post navy career money wise.

bottom line from what they taught me, is yes we all need to be paid our worth, and paid for GREAT results. but not sit on my asss demanding more breaks or money when you are already on top tier for your actual job.

i am happy that at least ford is getting back to work. being out on strike does not pay the bills.
