Nitto Recon Grapplers 275/65/20 SL (47 lbs.). Looks like I've lost around 1 mpg (3.5 Powerboost)- but with the larger sidewall ride is actually better than the stock Hankooks I think. No perceptible increase in road noise and good traction in dry and wet conditions so far- probably won't get snow here in Ohio again until late this year:

285/ 45 R22 Nitto Recon Grapplers on otherwise stock Limited.

Really disliked them at first as they rode poorly but after 2 weeks they have definitely smoothed out. Still think they look a bit funny being so small on 22" wheels and I wouldn't buy them again.

I do wish I could buy the same tire a hair taller, but in an LT rating for ride quality and mpg. Currently nothing available but I see BF Goodrich has a 295/ 50 R22 being released in June, but it still has a high weight so not sure what to think.

Maybe they will have something available when I'm due for replacements.

The traction improvement on all road surfaces has shocked me with how much better they are than the stock Generals. From a safety standpoint they are a huge upgrade. They also feel a lot more stable around long fast curves.

I only hit the mountains, the beaches, or a boat ramp about 5x per year so haven't been able to test those functions yet, but I'm sure they will be a huge improvement there as well.

looks good. I heavily debating trading my 275/65R20 heavier E rated tires for this exact tire to save the weight. How much did they run installed? Doesn’t look like you have a front level, did you remove the 4x4 blocks in the rear? You have much less rake than my FX4 does.
Also, which mud flaps do you have? I’m trying to find some that are fairly thin so my larger tires don’t rub the flaps in front.

Correct- no front level, probably won’t go that route- though I do have the 2WD u bolts and bump stops to remove the rear block (haven’t yet). Trying to decide if I want to buy the shims- or just skip it.

Those are Ford mud flaps and rear liners. Tires were a little over $1,700 installed at Discount Tire ($368 each for the SL tires).

Never ran my Nitto's in the sand, but I will say it's one of the best traction tires I've ever used on the launch ramp!

Can you recommend an AT Tire that rides nearly like a road tire, around 285 width, that fits a 22" diameter wheel, sits around 33-34" tall, and isn't 'E' rated?

Best option I've found is the upcoming BF Goodrich 295/ 50 R22 with a D1 load index but it's still showing 63#s for some reason? Maybe it's an inaccurate estimate as it's a new product?

Right now.... That's the only option. Everything in that size category (with the exception of the BFG) is only available in a 10 ply at this time.

I had Nitto Recon Grapplers in 275/60R20 installed today. I stuck with the XL load rating and I can’t tell any ride difference compared to the stock Hankooks, a tiny bit more road noise but not by much. They certainly change the look of the truck.

I was looking to switch to these or the KO2s in Load D 275/60r20. I have a couple questions for you.

1. What engine and gears do you have?
3.5L EB w/ 3.55 is what I have.
2. Are these the SL or Load D for that size? (They come in both for the wildpeaks)
3. And if they are the Load D 8 plys, how did the truck handle the weight difference in terms of power and mpg?
