I have tried the factory one, Apple, google and Waze. I found Waze to be way more useful with all the user inputs. Really like the fact people can report cops, accidents and many others.

I have no idea what the heck you're looking at with a $960+tax annual subscription renewal fee???
$80/month is the figure for Blue Cruise (compared to, iirc, $20 for GM and $0 for Dodge)

Google Maps has that feature as well

Waze almost 100% of time. I just wish it translated into the heads up display. I have a mobile starlink that nicely covers patches in cell service

Decided not to renew the onboard nav subscription after the 3 year trial. The maps are quite outdated on the provider's end (HERE navigation) and routing has taken me to some roads I don't even think the local wildlife knows are there, let alone civilization. Google maps through AA has worked better overall.

Who uses factory navigation vs google maps vs waze? I like factory because it finally does trailers. I didn't have it on my F350, because it didn't then.

Do I have to continue using Fordpass to update? Keep updated?

Thanx - Dean
Ask Ford to navigate from Mission Viejo to Ocotillo Wells with trailer, ask Google Maps/Waze, then note the wildly double the time with Ford for a route that make no since or helps while towing. I wonder how many other routes are similarly inefficient while simultaneously no safer while towing.

I'll check it, but without specific addresses and trailer specs it might vary anyway. I had my Garmin rv GPS take me a route, then half way thru it gave me a warning route unknown. Worked out ok,.but... None are perfect so driver be aware. I also usually check other map programs if it's questionable. Pita if I'm in the motorhome towing car on tow dolly and have to turn around.

Waze was purchased by goggle and now google maps has the ability to report accident, police and slow downs.

Now if only it would crowd source radar detector data ?

I like the color scheme of the factory nav, and have had to use it a handful of times when I lost cell signal for google maps in the past. Cell service is way better now, and I haven't had much need for it. Honestly, a lot of the time I have my screen set to the clock/date for the most part because I know where I'm going now. I like the calm view and the center screen off, especially at night.

I started many years ago with Google Maps. I found the OE maps were not as accurate and verbal input almost always failed. For the last 2 years, I have been using WAZE. Back in the 90s I used a Garland GPS XL device with a purple plug connected to a laptop running, I think it was World Atlas. It was not easy to use.

If I may add to this topic. This 2023 is my first new truck since 1980 and I like the factory nav screen. It's not as "fun" as the old gas station fold up maps (that no one could fold back up while driving lol) but that computer lady can sure describe when to turn and get me there, besides I have no idea how to get the apple phone to work, my daughter got it to work for me once but I like the Ford map better.

Oh the days when you would drive down the highway on a trip and say "Look there is an Exxon station". Let's fill up and get a map for this state, and maybe surrounding states.

Exxon had the best maps, hands down.

Because this is our RV traveling vehicle, (month + at a time) I've kept the AT&T hotspot, factory nav and Sirus.

Sirus is easy. Play hardball with them and they'll make the price insignificant. A couple bucks per month.

I don't remember the price of the others for certain but there have been times when TMobile couldn't get a signal (or a reliable one at least) and we've used the hotspot. I think its was 200 annually. Something like that.

And for sure, Ford's Nav worked better on Forest Service roads in Nevada, Wyoming and South Dakota, that Google didn't even know existed.

I like being able to plug in trailer specifics in Nav, vs AA but like AA's real time data.

I also like how AA allows other apps. We use RV Life's Trip Wizard, which also has trailer specific routing, as well as lots of other features that we use, for that purpose.

I like the little distance bar in Ford's. A little easier to just glance at the overall, than find the miles to destination on the others.

In other words, I use several sources but if / when we're done doing major trips, might let it all expire and just use AA.
