F150 DRL issues

I have a 2022 F150 Lariat, it has 33,000 miles however, out of warranty due to date. The LED Daytime running light went out. Ford say it will cost $3000 to repair due to having to replace the entire headlight and it is not covered under my extended warranty. I have seen many Ford owners with the same issue. My question is why the led light malfunction right after three years. This is a manufactured defect and Ford should send a recall on this issue.

Scares me on my truck, 2022. I plan on buying the extended warranty with the light add on but what happens after that’s out? I usually keep my vehicles for 10-15 years and I know I’ll hit the miles before the years.

You can turn down the intensity of the DRLs to 10% with ForScan and/or disable the DRLs altogether if you are is the USA. The DRLs will still illuminate at night.

In the past it did, but you need to read the fine print to be sure.

Curious if you have the 502A package with the upgraded LED projector headlamps? I'm wondering if the DRL problem is with all headlights or just the XLT / Base Lariat versions.

Just turn them off if one segment goes out. That's what I plan to do, even though I think they look really cool.

I’ve set the DRL’s to be off in daytime but they come on automatically at night on my 2024 KR

From what I have seen on here, this problem is limited to the quad LED lights found on Lariat-mid and lower trims. I have yet to see a Lariat High and up light exhibit the same behavior.

Purchase my ESP from Grainger last night and got the confirmation email just now…that was quick. Now hopefully if these DRL are going to fail they fail while in warranty!

What a coincidence. Exactly what happened to mine and its the Lariat mid trim. just happened yesterday
