F-150---- V8 Gas Mileage? What MPG Do You Get??

Ok. So I usually get around 21-23 mpg most everywhere I go. But went to Pine Knob Creek amphitheater in north Detroit last week. Started off on half tank. Filled up outside of Michigan. Ran that through, right back down to the stop on the way up. That tank took us home and I ran around TOWN on the rest. Here is a pic of the liar guage on the dash.

I was running 75-80 keeping up with traffic. On the cruise control. Hand calculation comes out to 25.2 mpg.

My last truck was a Tacoma. Never got close to this on the highway. I am still amazed at these numbers. And let just say my dad in his 2020 f150 lariat crew cab is just a lil jealous cause his best is 19.8 with his 3.5...

Just filled my tank again today and the trip said I got 19.2. That was mostly 30-45 mph roads with stoplights throughout and short trips. No hypermiling but I do drive it with a gentle foot 75-85% of the time and I even put it in sport mode a couple times to deny access to the vehicle that thought it could beat the 5.0 to where the lane merges from two to one from the light. Access denied I said and I let that V8 sing. The trip went from 20 to 18 and back to 19.2 dipping to that 18 when I used it in sport mode a few times. When you call upon the Coyote to howl it gets thirsty!

After about a year of driving my 22, I really don't think too much about gas mileage anymore. I drive it the way I want to.

Almost 21mpg at the pump, I'm at 6,300 miles. Use higher octane gas, use eco mode, use cruise control.

Just curious why use higher octane in ECO mode?

Try this for max fuel milage with the V8. The key is to let the motor run at about 2K rpm in 4-cylinder mode.

45 mph and below; Eco and max gear set to 7

45mph to 65mph: Eco and max gear set to 8

65mph to 75: Eco and max 9th

75mph+: Eco in 10th

In my defense the thread begins with F-150. This is an F-150 site! And 21 and newer F-150s at that!

Including F-150 in the title is redundant and invites all owners to chime in.

I know you small v8 guys are still emotionally working through the fact that without a supercharger, your truck is slower, weaker, and gets worse gas mileage than the PB. But it sounds great and isn’t that really why you bought it anyway?

It's ok, you can let it go and relax Save your heavy batteries.
But you are right about "sounds great". We, small V8 guys, love great sounding engines. Fake stuff like artificial engine sound through speakers similar to fake boobs on men, identifying themselves as women, won't draw much of our attention.
