Yes, it was factory standard on the 1st editions in 2021
The B&O sound system is a common link. I am not aware of any reports in vehicles without a B&O sound system, but not everyone reports which sound system they have. If any owner has experienced this issue in a vehicle without a B&O sound system, please report it in this forum.

This issue has been reported across several models, including ICE and BEV trucks and SUV's, all the way back to the 2018 model year. You think Ford and/or B&O would have figured out the problem and its solution since it first occurred in a 2018 model F-150 ICE Lariat. I encourage you to file a vehicle safety complaint at NHTSA. At some point, this will get the attention of Ford management.

This is what my Ford dealership did for the same issue. They changed out the DSP (Digital Signal Processor), think it has to do with the amp.
Probably no cure, but at least they tried something. Still nervous everytime I start my 2022 F150 Limited. I ve had it 8 months now and it's only happened once.

Thanks for the info, and it's STILL doing the loud pop and static issue?! Sheesh. We need to get more people filing those NHTSA complaints to see if we can this fixed by Ford!

Looks like Ford finally found the issue with the BO noise. I received a software update notice for the problem. Hope it resolves the issue.
It is also showing up under TSB-357500 at this link ...

Time will tell if it solves the problem. I sure hope so for the sake of other owners. My ears are still ringing from my 10/4/2022 incident ... and probably will for the rest of my life.

The dealer can apply the update, too. It is rare that this update gets pushed out via the OTA process.

I had this update applied and it happened again. This time much louder and my ears are ringing and painful. I am sure I have some hearing loss. I called FORD again to log another case and will be working with an attorney shortly. I am done playing games with this now.

Thanks for posting this. Did your truck receive the over-the-air update or did you bring it in to the dealer for the module update?
Sorry to hear about this. Please keep us posted.
Also, is your truck a Power Boost out of curiosity?
@Jesse-Infotainment @rugedraw post update the pop came back even louder on @miller6824

Well, then.......that's disheartening. If you don't mind, share your VIN here or by PM to see if the truck recorded any codes. I know the before the update, the truck didn't record any codes in my own truck. Curious to see if the truck recorded any kind of event.

I don't think ti grabbed the OTA update. When I was at the dealer they reprogrammed the DSP to the latest software update. (*tech note said: JRG found SSM 51663 2021-2023 F150/Expedition- Pop noise and /or static in speakers at startup.

Also, yes it is the Power Boost with the B&O Unleashed.

@miller6824 Nothing recorded in PTS to diagnose the issue as far as DTC's go. Just like before. The update apparently does nothing to help the cause,

So disheartening. There are so many things I love about this truck but as somebody with hearing issues already and hoping to have a kid in the near future, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk... If I get rid of it, just not sure what would check all the boxes my truck fills though. Dang.

Hey Miller, how are you doing with it all? Any updates from Ford? Hopefully your ears are recovering. ?
