Hi there. These noise and motor concerns doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your F-150. Could you please send us a DM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.
They don't want you to experience, but they really don't want to do anything to fix It. This thread and these issues are approaching two years old now along with 100s of NHTSA complaints and they have invested nothing into fixing the issues. It is very clear FORD doesn't care about safety.

This shit happend to my truck the other day... I lost my hearing. I was able to record a video of it...Crazy. I was going through the expressway trying to get off but there was alot of construction and there was nothing I could do to stop truck and turn it off. Finally after 20 minutes, I pulled over. Stopped the truck. Turned of my truck. Turned it back on and it kept going.....I lost my hearing for awhile...Wouldn't wish this shit on anyone @Ford Motor Company my vin 1FTFW1ED2MFB27491

Me too today, also had hint of electrical smell so instead of driving to the dealer I turned around, went home and called the tow truck. Restarted 3 times no fix. Tried turning stereo off no fix. After waiting for an hour for the tow, on restart to load problem went away. I too have video and sent to the dealership.

Hrm, seems to be some type of alien morse code, 'invasion imminent'

Combined with electrical smell, what'd they do to your poor truck? Your axle seems canted a little bit in your pics post spring install.

It is at the dealership now. The service manager is taking me seriously and is responding to the audio system and suspension clunk issues (again after replacing the springs which did not fix). Will be weeks before they can even get into it. Hurricane season is starting here and I need the truck to pull my expensive boat and run. My 2012 FX4 was perfect for 180K miles, and I never should have "upgraded", expecting another 12 years of completely reliable and enjoyable performance with car play and adaptive cruise I wanted. I hope the dealer will resolve the issues and all will be well. It is the times we live in.

I guess that I am now joining this club with my 22 PB Platinum. I almost crashed. It was insanely loud. Any resolution for anyone?

I suggest you see an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor since you state the noise was insanely loud. My ENT advised me that treatments are very limited for extreme noise exposure, and what does exist must be done quickly.

I also suggest you file a NHTSA Vehicle Safety Complaint. It seems that Ford is not going to provide a solution or even acknowledge the issue until forced to do so.

This same thing just happened to me last night in my truck. Was sitting in the a lot in my vehicle when I heard the loudest pop and then crackling. For a moment I thought cracking noise was the glass around me cracking into pieces before I realized it was coming from the speakers. I'm glad I wasn't actually driving, as this could have caused a serious accident..

The cracking continued even when the car was off. The stereo wouldn't work.

This morning I tried it and everything seems to work, but I'm wary this will happen again.

There is an update for the DSP in FDRS now that is believed to correct this problem. However, it seems like it fails to install when you try to run it. I'll ask to see if that's been corrected. If it has, the dealer should be able to install an update that hopefully corrects this. It has happened to me twice, and I have two 12" aftermarket subwoofers in my truck. You can only imagine how loud that pop is in my truck. I've been wanting to install the update myself, but don't want to pay Ford $50 for access to FDRS if I can't get what I want out of it.

It installs. It just doesn’t report the installation to the server so it remains in the FDRS queue.

So, Ford is waiting for the extreme noise event to occur, likely damaging occupants hearing, and then waiting for the owner to request the DSP update, versus updating all vehicles or issuing a recall to do so?

Yes. What’s your point? Remember, Ford built the Pinto.

Eventually, they will most likely make it into an OTA update that will go out to trucks. However, I would not wait for an OTA. Not for this.

Also, remember that we THINK this update corrects the issue.

Edit: The other issue is, when this happens, it does not record any DTC's in the truck. Both times it happened to me, I checked my truck in PTS and it recorded no trouble codes. I imagine this has been very difficult for Ford to diagnose since there is no way to replicate the problem and the vehicle doesn't record any instance of it happening.

I’m not sure this update will ever go out OTA. According to @Livnitup ’s spreadsheet, the DSP cannot be updated this way.

You are correct.

Now you guys know. If you want the update, it has to be done through the dealer or with a Mongoose tool if you have one. Unfortunately, the only way to see if it does fix it, is to get the update and then wait and hope it never happens again. ?‍♂
