I have a friend here in Texas dealer kept his 2023 truck almost 10 months before replacing transmission. They did give him a brand new truck the whole time. I recommend you call the Ford complaint center just because the dealership knows of this problem Ford has no ideal of your pain. Best of luck in this journey brother.

I'm at a loss to understand how a fully warrantied vehicle needing an overnight stay, doesn't automatically qualify for a loaner.

The dealer can say they don't have them, or they're all out already but Ford owes you a ride.

Re: loaners.

It's not like Ford dealerships have empty lots and no vehicles to "lend out."....

Yes, I know, apples and oranges. But still....

Jus' sayin'.

Call Ford Customer Care.

Check your states lemon laws, and if you are eligible start the process, it should be free to do for you.

I have a brand new 2024 f150 that has been at the dealership for exactly 1 month. The transmission is slipping bad and they said it has burned clutches. Other than that they don’t give me any information. They said they are waiting to see if ford wants to replace the transmission or rebuild it. It has 15,000 miles. It has been in the shop for a straight month and not moved the parking spot it’s in. What am I supposed to do about a vehicle. Keep borrowing family members week after week. I feel like a bum and this is a brand new truck. So disappointing. Do any of you all have any suggestions or something I can try?
Your dealer should be helping you more, but they aren’t so you need to advocate for yourself.

call ford corporate and politely, but firmly, complain about your experience thus far. Request at a minimum a Ford extended warranty, and rental coverage. I did this and Ford gave me the Ford PremiumCare 5/75k plan. Thankfully my dealer provided a loaner when my truck was getting a new trans under warranty. Sorry yours isn’t as accommodating.

next, you need to consider starting the lemon law buy back. Your options depend on your state laws. research what your options are.

also, have you called the dealer and escalated to a manager to get a better answer? If you call the general service tech they (in my experience) don’t give a shit and just tell you whatever the ticket says. You need to talk with someone who cares.

Just looked at KY lemon law. 30 days is the threshold. However, it's also 12K miles and the OP says he has 15K miles. Was the truck a loaner/demo/FCTP? If so, he might be OK depending on what the mileage was at delivery.
no it had 20 miles when I received

I did what Sumguy did, I had great luck, after a few major issues I got the same treatment from corporate. With that said I have had them take a used vehicle off the lot and put a plate on it as a loaner, each dealer is different. The privately owned ones I find better than the corporate stores, though I have buddied up with corporate stores and had good luck too.

I find that the larger dealers get more corporate support - I press for a rental car and I don't leave until I get one. The larger dealers get a corporate Ford tech who stops by often to look at difficult to diagnose repairs, I have asked to speak with the guy - but told he didn't have time, each time I requested a discussion he approved the repair. The other part that is challenging, parts are not always available and techs who can do the work can be scarce as well. The larger dealers seem to get more done, while the smaller nicer ones are always short staffed and seem to take so much longer to get the work done.

I know Ford follows this board and they ask to DM them from time to time. I would contact them?

You need to get it to another dealer

My dealer has 50 rentals.

My F 150 was just in for 3 weeks. At first they did not have one to give me. Then after a little complaining to the head service manager a rental appeared.. Wether one was returned or they issued another have no idea. But they have a whole rental dept.

They even said they used the rental as leverage with ford as in get us the part or approve the work otherwise you can keep paying for a rental.

Daughter's manual bronco was in for 3 months. Known transmission issue rental every day.

As mentioned many times in this thread call ford customer service. I had an oil leak that they couldn't or didn't want to fix and the had my 19' f150 for many weeks. They didn't have a vehicle i could use so i rented one on my dime ford did reimburse me for the rental cost In the end they ended up buying the truck back

Quick update. Finally got my truck back today. 61 days in total. I took your alls advice and called customer service. They changed dealerships view from waiting on “parts” they were told to rebuild trans. My customer care rep got them to install a new transmission much quicker then waiting on parts and rebuild. It still took ALOT longer than they said. They gave me 5 different pick up dates and always cancelled the day before or morning of. The last set back was because I had also brought it in with AC not getting cold along with transmission problems. Well when service advisor calls me and tells me that my truck had been there so long they forgot what was even wrong with it, I just about exploded through the phone. Long story short I told them, they ordered new Ac condenser and had it fixed in 5 additional days. Now my questions is should I go through the process of BBB and try for a “Cash and Keep” or just kick the can down the road and say shit like this happens. I’ve heard of ford customer care sending pre paid visa for 1 or 2 months payments. Which would be nice but I just don’t know how the odds are of getting that done. Thanks for any and all advice people.

I would but that depends on exactly what the process is in your state.

You have to follow it to the Tee. In many states it goes before an arbitrator.

The Ac is an issue but it does not make it undrivable which could complicate things.

I my state you must also put them on notice. If I were you I do that regardless. should another issue arise your covered.

Good summary from the army of all places:

In Idaho it is 24 months or 24k miles your state 12 and 12 so think your are beyond. You can still notify ford but they don't have to do anything by the sound of it.

Ford contacted me this evening by ford and want to offer an additional 75k mile bumper to bumper warranty. They asked me if I agreed and they would proceed with it. I feel like that is just their first offer by the way they asked me several times if I agreed. I didn’t and they told me to take a few days to think about it. They said that extended warranty was valued at $1880.

I wait a till friday call back ask for 100k

If I remember you did not get a rental?

Tell them it was 61 days no rental at 35$ a day you were inconvenienced and on top or that saved them

2135 $

But the 75K is not a bad deal

Keep in mind though the power train warranty is 60k 5 years, so transmission wise you are only getting an additional 15 K in the power train with The 75k offer,

Might want to mention that as well.

If they seem not to be willing to go 100k ask them to throw in the lighting warranty and some of the others.

Go to Granger fords site and look over all the packages.
