Error Code: P0430 - Catalytic Converter

I was finally able to get the other Cat replaced this week. I’ve driven about 300 miles since and the engine light hasn’t come back on so fingers crossed it has been fixed.

Did replacing BOTH cats fix your problem?

I had my truck in for a different issue and brought up that the code throws and clears itself. The dealership order a new catalytic converter and it came almost immediately. The turn around surprised the dealership. New cat is being installed now.

Finally took mine in after the code kept coming back. Dealer had to order the cat but it was there 3 days later. Truck is in now getting it replaced, hopefully i wont have the codes come back. Truck has been running fine this whole time and the mileage has been great.

I just had the issue pop up again myself. I originally had one of the cats replace in August by the dealer and the code went away. I just had the check engine light come back today.

I’ve had this same issue with mine probably within first 6 months and had them replaced. Never had an issue since.

As I stated in post #28, I had this same problem, bad Cat months on backorder. After it was replaced, the CEL came on again with the same code, took it back in and they say they goofed and replaced the wrong one. So another 4-month wait and finally it got fixed and no problems since with that issue.

That was an expensive mistake for the dealer.

I now have about 5000 miles since the 2nd CAT was replaced and no issues since.

Doesn’t it seem weird that all these catalytic converter failures are occurring?
I can honestly say that i don’t remember this being an issue on any other generation F150 before, nor can i remember this being an issue on any of the 25+ vehicles i have ever owned.

Did i just miss it before?

Heck, I hadn't realized the cat converter on the MY21-MY23 trucks had a problem. Mine threw catalytic converter codes and the yellow check engine wrench. Took it to the dealer on 1/1/24. They de-sulfured the cat converter. They also said it it happened again, they would put in a new catalytic converter.

I am in this boat now.
They did the desulfate procedure and my Check engine light came back on in the same day.

Well here I am for a 3'rd time. It took all of 2023 to resolve the first 2 times, now awaiting for shipping again!
