I just looked at my work order for this and they have written in it "RF ECU for adaptive fuel message warning, cleared". I'm assuming RF means "reflash"?The ECS message happened to me before shortly after I bought my Powerboost, I was driving from MN to ND and filled up with E10 as opposed to "normal" fuel E15 in MN (88 octane). I was told this was a normal message due to fuel changes and that it would go away eventually. The dealer did zero out the message and it never came back. As for the engine on due to cold, I get that all the time, it needs to keep it on to run the heater and charge more effectively. I even get that message in the summer up here in MN, haha.
I was driving about 30min mix hiway and normal. So more information?
Had the truck been running long?
What was the ambient temperature?
Had you purchased fuel recently?
Are you using E10, or are you purchasing from a station that sells E85 as well?
And can you scan for codes? I suspect you will have a few.
This is right from the manual:I was driving about 30min mix hiway and normal.
Outside Temps 65dg
Son was using truck and I asked him if he fueled and he said last week he put in e85. 20gal
I have fueled 30 gal e15 yesterday. Didn't know he had added e85 Pryor.
I was premature in my op. I should have pulled the codes before posting.
Come to think about it I felt the truck had quite a bit more spunk. Never thought to consider him fueling.
I will pull codes in a bit.
I wish I had known at the time as I could have seen that. I have your pids. I asked him how empty the truck was when he filled. He said 3 Miles to empty.I'm stunned it was able to run on E85 in any large quantity.
The Ecoboost factory calibration would reach it's management for fueling/timing limits around E20
No telling what the Air/fuel ratio must have been.
There's a manual? This is right from the manual:
Do not use:
Using prohibited fuel the likely cause.
- Diesel fuel.
- Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.
- Fuel containing more than 15% ethanol or E85 fuel.
- Fuels containing methanol.
- Fuels containing metallic-based additives, including manganese-based compounds.
- Fuels containing the octane booster additive, methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl (MMT).
- Leaded fuel, using leaded fuel is prohibited by law.
He explained that all the rest of my trucks have writing at filler neck prohibited Fuels. This one has nothing so figuring a new truck it can take anything. Dam glad he didn't put diesel inI wish I had known at the time as I could have seen that. I have your pids. I asked him how empty the truck was when he filled. He said 3 Miles to empty.
