Has anyone experienced this engine rattle? Video probably doesn’t grab it great, but I noticed it in the last week or so. Morning temps are around 45-50 degrees. It only happens when motor is cold upon initial morning start but does occur every morning. It never did it when the temps were single digits. Truck has about 5k miles on it.

The noise starts at around 2 seconds when the gas engine kicks on and lasts about 30 seconds then disappears.
Was going to book a dealer visit but they are booked until the 29th so figured I would try here.

I had something similar. In my case it only occurred what ambient temps were less than 15ºF. Turned out to be a folded over o-ring inside the transmission from initial assembly.

Ecoboost? Sounds like a wastegate rattle to me.
Yeah it’s the Powerboost. I think you’re right. I guess no way to fix that issue on the 14th gens I know the 13th gens used a spring to keep it from rattling

Sometimes it is so hard to tell noises on videos.

It could be wastegate rattle.

However, I along with others I've seen on various forums with Powerboosts, have a metallic heat-shield-sounding rattle at around 1300-1800 rpms (mine seems to be 1300, then silent, then returns at 1800).

I took mine in and was told it is wastegate. I'm not convinced but didn't have time to go further. I'm planning now that weather is getting nicer to get under the truck and have someone start it and hunt around.

The few people I've seen it seems to be something with the heat exchanger or resonator. Yours sounds a bit different than mine which you can hear here:

I don't know about linking to other sites but if you google search there is a video on r/F150 of a white powerboost, probably late 2023 or early 2024 post and the guy has the best video I've seen with the sound my truck makes. Not sure he's solved his problem yet either....

An $8 "mechanics stethoscope" from Harbor Freight has really helped me isolate noise sources.

Just to update this thread. I ended up taking it back a second time and asked that they spend more time finding the issue and after keeping it for 2 days they called me this morning to let me know they found the rattle and it was two heatshields that were rubbing and one side that wasn't torqued correctly and was allowing it to rattle. They readjusted the two heatshields and torqued everything to spec and the rattle is gone.

I spoke too soon. Got to the dealership this evening with both my little kids in tow and as the porter was bringing around the truck I could hear it rattle as he accelerated. Immediately went back in and told them it wasn’t fixed. So now it sits, again. Not sure what rattle they fixed with the heat shields as the truck sounded the exact same.
Service notes said they fixed a rattle/buzzing sound from the heat shield.. the truck didn’t make a buzzing sound lol.

My Powerboost which I had to get rid of made the same noise and the cause was low tranny fluid from the factory, I’d get dealer to check.

Any updates? Mine is returning with the colder weather. Thought it was heat shield as I did a little banging underneath and thought I fixed it but now I'm thinking its not the heat shield.

Idle for me generally sounds good, but at the right RPM, when cold, it will rattle fiercely when under light acceleration. Always sounds like a bucket of marbles when I pull out of my house in the AM but seems to be OK after a short amount of driving.
