Thanks. I think I fixed all my tech issues (short in my laptop USB, then I cobbled together a long USB cord to reach my desktop).

Now I just have my desktop sitting in the truck and it’s updating CAM and now the IPMA. Knock on wood no errors or disconnects.

I’ll sceeen shot when that is done and see what I need to do next. Sounds like I’m in for a long night. I truly appreciate everyone’s help.

I just wrapped up a set of modules. Looking better?

instrument panel is still dark. What’s my next step?

@JJ_Tex IPMA/PSCM seem to be recovered. Next, clickt he purple IPC and run the PMI on that. If the USB method fails or is not given you as an option, it'll take 3-6 hours to flash the IPC depending on which update it is.

Actually, it still shows the IPC update there. Try to run the IPC update to see what happens, but if it does not recognize the module is there, then the PMI is your only other option.

@JJ_Tex Your truck has not reported itself to the cloud since yesterday. I can't see the current codes it is reporting. If you have not started the IPC yet, post the codes it is reporting. Particularly GWM, APIM, IPMA and PSCM. Also, once you recover the IPC, do the SCCM. The module was supposed to be updated before the IPMA/PSCM. Not a big deal, but that alone may eliminate some of the codes causing the modules to be orange now.

Wow. I’m going to go buy a lottery ticket! Do I just do the rest of the SW updates as originally planned?
Sweet! Yes, knock em out. All of those are quick. BCM you cannot do, so ignore it. ACM will not come off the list, so run it once and ignore it.

What turned everything green? The IPC PMI or did it just go green on its own?

Awesome! Give one last screen shot of the completed list for those of us following along at home.

Finally, this is the prettiest picture I've seen I a while. I'm all updated (at least with FDRS) and just finished my test drive. It took all day, especially this afternoon when I thought it was done and it snuck in a 6GB Synch update, along with its enterage of other modules. I'll play around with FORSCAN at some point to get all of the cool features, but I feel so much better.

I didn't sleep a wink last night trying to get it updated and worried I just messed up my truck and my son's ride to college orientation.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! to all of the members that helped me out, especially @rugedraw

Just dumb luck. All I did was download and run the SW updates like I originally planned.

A note of advice to anyone who needs a longer cord for the mongoose... get a quality one and don't try to piece it together with 3 other USB cables.

Great job! Glad to see your fully updated now. Lol, that's got to be the biggest monitor I've ever seen in a truck while doing updates. ??
You shoudl hang out in TX more. Everything is bigger out here.

True, but once I passed about 60, glasses haven't been an elective.

Of course I wouldn't be caught dead without the hat, so........ 4-eyes redneck it is. ?

I have started to immerse myself in FDRS to update my truck this summer. Ford seems to have decided that OTA’s to 4-year-old trucks are a low priority. Currently at Sync 4 Version 23167 Revision 926. Last OTA update was 6.1.0 on Jan. 3, 2025.

I have read most, if not all, of the 15,663 posts to the “ECU module programming guide using FDRS” since 2021 and I’ll probably ask a question that has been asked and answered, but the users of this forum have proven to be patient, forgiving, and expert.

I started at post #1.

  • The Clore PL2320 Amp is the preferred model over the years. Is the difference between the 10 Amp and 20 Amp only charging speed? Will the 10 Amp maintain the battery sufficiently? No issue with purchasing the 20 Amp. Incidentally Home Depot sells the 20 Amp model for the same price as Amazon, with a more liberal return policy.
  • I have a Ford Owners/Motorcraft login credential. The FJDS/FDRS license requires another login credential. Should I be concerned about the required company name I make up?
  • Finally, for today, is there anyone near the New Hampshire Monadnock region that would lend me a Mongoose cable, and dare I ask, provide technical help, if needed. Otherwise, I’ll list my name on the Mongoose lending forum when I’m ready to update my truck.
Thanks for your help
