The 2015 is probably not supported by FDRS....I think that one used IDS. It's a different license. I am not 100% if the other two are supported by FDRS or IDS, but once you're done with the truck, plug into them to see what happens. I would update everything I can while the license is active.
This was the FDRS coverage list I was looking for. It’s more detailed than the one I linked above.

FORD
The following vehicles are supported by FDRS
2018+ Expediion/Navigator
2018+ Ecosport
2019+ Ranger
2020+ Transit
2019+ Transit Connect
2020+ Explorer/Aviator
2020+ Super Duty
2020+ Escape/Corsair
2021+ F-150
2021+ Edge/Nautilus
2021+ Mach-E
All other vehicles are supported by IDS/FJDS

Just get the dealer to update it. If you’re still under warranty, there’s a TSB related to Sync issues that covers the BCM.

OK, my dealer quoted me $3,000 to update all. Your telling me that some of this will be done under warranty? This makes my head hurt. I cannot understand why Ford is handling this in such a unprofessional manner. Dealers should know what they are required to do. I feel certain programming does not pay like brakes do.

Is there a way I can figure out what the dealer is required to do? I am under an extended Ford warranty.

The rule of thumb is that dealers are required to repair under warranty things (mechanical or electronic) that are ”broken.” Out of date software is not broken. If you want a software update covered under warranty, you’ll need to show that something is not working correctly and then show (or let the dealer try to establish) that a software update will fix it. A TSB or SSM will often be the best way to establish this. Ford will not reimburse dealers for updating software just because it’s not current. As a result, dealers will not just do it for you if you ask because they can’t bill it as a repair.

Thank you for the answer. It is amazing to me that I need to know the tech to determine if I need an update or not. Should have majored in computer engineering instead of finance. Finance tech required learning the addition/subtraction tables.

Ok, I need some serious help. Long story short, I have a '21 that I updated to get blue cruise several years ago. Since then I've received 1-2 OTAs annually, but pretty minimal.

Later this week I'm taking my kiddo to college and decided I should get ready for that road trip and check and see if I had any updates. I had lots and figured I would dust off the Mongoose/power supply and get those knocked out this weekend. Now I have a truck with no instrument panel or power steering. Help!

At this point I just need to get the truck back driveable so I can take the kid to college.

I had several failed modules that failed at the same spots repeatedly so I started writing them down:
  • IPC failed at F188 NU5T-10F906-FCC (step 336 of 449)
  • CMR failed
  • PSCM failed at F188 ML3V-14D003-BD (Step 13 of 385)
I'm going to get a few hours of sleep and renew my FDRS license in the morning. Let me know if you have any advice on how I should tackle this. Here is my latest Toolbox view:

CMR is failing on F188 ML3T-3G604-XL

All of the above start with F188, is there any significance in that?

Did something happen mid-update, like the laptop going to sleep or the battery on the truck dying? Or did the update just fail with no other explanation? Background might help in offering better advice.

I was having an issue with one of my USB ports and it lost connectivity to FDRS at one point until I changed to a different port.

Did the PMI work or does the issue persist?

@JJ_Tex Ok just saw your screenshot. IPMA, PSCM and IPC are bricked. This is going to take some time to fix. You will need to run the PMI of both the IPMA and the IPC and select "no" when FDRS asks if it is the original module. The IPMA will take 3 hours. The IPC may no longer be able to be updated with the USB and you will have to CAN the update in. This will take 6 hours to do. I am not sure how this happened in your case, but you will need to recover those modules via a PMI.
