Nice little Sunday doing some updates on the couple day old new rig. Had quite a few to get knocked out since its a 24 and has been sitting for a while. No issues so far especially considering I didn't even decide to update FDRS and get a license until late this afternoon on a Sunday. Just working through the ping pong back and forth between GWM and TCU updates but will save those until tomorrow. No new BC 1.4 IPMA software for it looks like yet but just fine by me, then I don't have to worry about the new seat belt on to lane center nanny.

Which ones did you update and how long did each take? I have about 10 to do myself.

I did not have a chance to try again yesterday.
It is possible that the IPMA was soft-bricked. Click the IPMA here (circled in red) and it will bring up a list of all the guided routine you can do on it on the right. Select the PMI in the list that pops up and when FDRS asks you if it is the original module, make sure you select "no". It will take three hours, but the PMI will recover the IPMA and update it at the same time.

So, after being extremely impatient, something finally happened. I hopped in the truck to take the kids somewhere and I got a message that’s said USB error (that’s new). When I did my routine of checking sync version, which is normally blank, something was there.

Then, during the drive, it said updating. It said updating for about 15 minutes, then just went away. I wasn’t able to let the truck keep idling, so hopefully I didn’t break it. No poop telling me restart required, but hopefully I’ll know more in 30 minutes.

I’m just excited and I don’t really have anyone else to share with that would care or match my excitement lol.

Leave the USB in there unless you see a message that says OK to remove or until you see it reads Sync 21146.

I’m afraid I may have been prematurely excited.

Got back in the truck after swim, back to where it was. I’m hopeful maybe the next trip.

It got unstuck for a trip, which is what you need to happen, but for some reason, it didn't take the update. I would double-check the contents and formatting of the USB stick before it tries again.

I don’t know if it’s normal for it to say USB error. After the kids go down, I’ll grab everything and download the update from ford again. I have it backed up on my computer, but I may as well just download it again. Just to make sure all is well.

The USB Error is not normal; that is why I said to check it. Ensure it is formatted as exFAT and given a short name (like Ford, or FDRS or F150)

It’s definitely exFAT, otherwise I get a large USB error screen. The USB is called ford. I’ve done all the things I can think of. So now I’m just gonna download again and wait patiently.

I didn't have the 3 hours but I wanted to see what popped up when I clicked on the IPMA (which is now purple?). I see the PMI at the end of the list. Would doing the Self Test at the top be of benefit?

I don’t know if it will help your IPMA issue. That said, I ran self tests on modules that had turned orange after I ran TRON trying to clear up a different error (a few dozen pages back). Self Test turned those orange modules back to green for me. YMMV, use at own risk, blah blah, etc.

Purple means it's bricked; no need to panic. The PMI will fix it.
