Questions for those of you who do FDRS updates, as I'm planning to start updating my '23 truck for the first time, this weekend. Since this sounds like it will take hours, I plan to do it all remotely, with the laptop in the garage, the truck outside (it's too long to fit in the garage and I'd prefer to keep the garage door shut) and I'll remote into the laptop so I can be in my office, working on other things as well. I'll run an extension to power the Clore power supply as well.
I've read enough posts that I have some questions:
1- Since my truck will sit outside & I don't want to spend hours in the truck or garage, can I leave the laptop in the garage and use a long USB extension going to the truck, for the Mongoose? Any issues using extensions?
2- If there's a prompt to do something like turn on/off the engine, or insert/remove a thumb drive in the USB, are you also prompted in FDRS or do I need to periodically check the vehicle?
3- Will any FORScan changes I've done previously (months ago) need to be re-done or are they saved on Ford's servers after some time? I plan to save everything in FORScan before I start with FDRS.
Hopefully things go smooth and I'll be able to play with BC 1.4 when I'm done.
