I always use USB A but I have plenty of thumb drives around house.

I've had the best luck with sandisk or samsung 64 gb and do not name the thumb drive. Thanks, I have seen the messages about the credential requirement for the BCM update. I have a charger, I actually had the one recommend in the first post.
Which USB port are you guys using for the updates that require USB, the USB-A or USB-C
Only that one.Has anyone figured a workaround for the security credentials they are asking for? Is the BCM the only module as of now Ford is locking us out of?
The other option, one that is the only way for me, is to ask the dealer to do just the BCM. Mine will do it no problem. I wonder if there are any ssm/tsb/csp where update of the BCM is a step? ?Only that one.
No way around it. Just have to wait for it to come OTA.
I'll say this, my truck was seriously outdated buying it used last April. The other option, one that is the only way for me, is to ask the dealer to do just the BCM. Mine will do it no problem. I wonder if there are any ssm/tsb/csp where update of the BCM is a step? ?
The BCM update that is waiting in the que for most ICE trucks, that we cant install, ? will update the charging system strategy / algorithm to improve and correct the constant low SOC condition that many of the trucks are experiencing.I'll say this, my truck was seriously outdated buying it used last April.
I installed one BCM update with my first FDRS session installing over a year worth of updates. There were other updates always showing up. I don't think BCM is a gatekeeper like the other updates tend to be.
Only other BCM update I have seen was one that came OTA early this year. Then this new one that is waiting on FDRS now that only a handful of members here have reported getting sent to them.
BCM updates seem to be rare. It does several things for the truck but I think it has the least total updates to fix bugs.
Yes and I am sure you already know thisThe BCM update that is waiting in the que for most ICE trucks, that we cant install, ? will update the charging system strategy / algorithm to improve and correct the constant low SOC condition that many of the trucks are experiencing.
I didn't interrupt the text that way, appears to just get rid of the extra warning messages. The BCM update that is waiting in the que for most ICE trucks, that we cant install, ? will update the charging system strategy / algorithm to improve and correct the constant low SOC condition that many of the trucks are experiencing.
NHTSA ID Number: 11003268
Manufacturer Communication Number: OTA BCM-24.6.RF-150
Summary
Quality improvements include:
-Disable Electric Brake Boost power derate to improve the false positive 'Check Brake System' and 'Charging System Service' warning messages.
-Disables the False positive “Charging System Service Soon” and “12V Battery State of Charge Low” warning messages in the cluster.
Yes, the fan speed trick does work for the Powerboost trucks. But the ICE trucks have not been able to leverage that advantage.Yes and I am sure you already know thisbut putting out here again for everyone that this can be easily overcome by setting your AC Fan speed to 5 or higher to bypass the BMS logic. I regularly driver around with a 85+ SOC on the 12v.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this text is in reference to the BCM OTA update that has been sent to the Powerboost trucks already. Have you seen any ICE truck VIN that has received the current BCM update via. OTA? Maybe I've missed something?I didn't interrupt the text that way, appears to just get rid of the extra warning messages.
My SOC is fine.
As long as they delay releasing the update they don't have to tell the gubermint the details.Correct me if I'm wrong but this text is in reference to the BCM OTA update that has been sent to the Powerboost trucks already. You got all the good updates.Forscan SOC% set to 90.
OBD Fusion tops it out at 70 with 0A going in.
Out-of-vehicle battery tester says 100.
As long as it cranks, I don't care anymore ?
