Dual Exhaust Tip Alignment

While my truck was in the shop for a different issue I mentioned to the service manager that the left tip was wonky. They got it straight and centered so it looks good enough, but the note on the service report indicated that it was too far out to correct by just loosening the bolts, and a replacement bracket was not readily available, so they bent the bracket to make it work. Upon close inspection the drain hole on the bottom of the tip is about half an inch from bottom dead center. Not ideal but hey it looks better than before. It is apparent from the tool marks on the bolts and the inside of the tip that the broomstick method was used.

The sad thing is that they could easily implement an alignment jig at the factory to make the dual exhaust tips pretty darn consistent and more esthetically pleasing. Especially considering the extra cost of the package. They don’t though and they don’t even do a decent job of alignment of the doors. The Ford Escape has better fit and finish than the F-150!

I just adjusted mine after an awful experience with the Flowmaster FX direct fit. I had it for one week then back to Stock.
Now the tips are centered & tucked up in the bumper cutouts. Thanks to UncleFester. I just loosened the 13mm & had lots of adjustment.

What was wrong with the Flowmaster FX? I have one and I love it.

Awful was probably the wrong word to use. I didn’t like the way it sounded when the cylinder deactivation kicked in. That being said, i’ll make someone a screaming good deal on it. Was only on the truck for 7 days.
