I hadn't realized time was going so short for 2024 ordering.

What do people think about ordering in the next couple of days, or waiting to order a 2025?

(if there would be a plugin, that would make it easy, but it's pretty clear that that's not in the next couple of years)

I want the PAT, the powerboats, 10 way seats (preferably full reclining), seat massager. I would like the running boards to be power and the power tailgate (shiny! ?), and as little black as possible (I live in the desert).

But I'm still waffling, and on top of it stranded a few days out of state waiting for covid to clear at my house. And I still need to sit in a couple of the seats.

So I assume I wait, especially as the ramcharger plugin is so close to what I really want (I'd rarely go near that 145 miles, and can use gas for extended distance). But the thought of owning a Dodge . . .

But what are other folks thinking down to the wire?

2025 almost guaranteed to cost more for the same truck. 2024 don't seem to be moving and will likely be getting bunch of rebates to cut the cost down even more.

If you are on the fence with the Dodge just wait and see. It is an interesting concept, but it is still a Dodge. ;)

*That's* what I forgot to ask: speculation as to what incentives will apply by the time a high-spec 2024 gets delivered.

And the other is kind of it, too: "still" a dodge.

I have a general strong preference for ford (well, except for my cadillac problem, but GM hasn't made a real cadillac for a couple of decades). [Now if *any* brand of full sized truck had a drive setting of "1960 Cadillac Fleetwood" I'd drop what I'm doing and order! ]

The highest trims get excluded from some of the rebates but that depends how desperate Ford and dealers get to move inventory. F-150 is just money for Ford. I see plenty of 2024 with those fugly taillights on the roads but I also see full dealer lots. ?

IMHO at this point I would wait unless you have very specific needs that only an order would satisfy. 2023 are still available, 2024's will be on lots for a while, and a 2025 order may not happen until next year sometime at best. The 2025 order banks will fill up and then you are at the mercy of the Ford scheduling whether you get yours built in early production or not. Maybe with 2023's on the lots deals on in stock 2024's will be more plentiful.

I too am looking for more information on the 2025 Ramcharger but that might still be 5 - 6 months off. Then consider that it will be brand new vehicle and tech so maybe the first year production may not be so great. I have said that 2027 Ramcharger production would probably be the first year I would consider. Even then it would have to check a lot of boxes over my wonderful 2022 PB for me to consider it and give up this PB.

Good luck.

I'm not convinced that the actual 2025 market price/cost will be significantly more than the 2024. If the MSRP increases below the rate of inflation, then the relative cost for it will be the same or less.

Also, Ford won't be able to maintain sales volume and increase actual market prices at the same time in this environment. If Ford is the only manufacturer to do so, then it's going to take a market share hit. I don't think the price increases on GM vehicles were significant so Ford has to factor that into their decision to raise prices. It clearly didn't work out well for Stellantis and Toyota seems to keep increasing its market share with Tundras despite their engine recall problem.

It would be easier for Ford to increase its prices in the full size SUV market because it's only competitor is really just GM. The 1/2 ton pickup market is a different ball game with 3 other competitors.

Agreed. At this point, I would wait for a 2025. I believe order banks open at the end of this month. I don't think 2025 order banks will fill up the same way the 2024 order banks did. The 2024 was a mid cycle refresh so more people probably held off or passed on a 2023.

I suspect that the 2025 price increases will be relatively mild--both for the competitive reasons that @Polo08816 offers, and because the supply chain disruptions and inflation are both way down.

The Joker in the deck is the economy..and of course interest rates. A high trim high MSRP truck might be a tough sell for all dealerships. Toss in the election in November and you might see a LOT of folks passing on buying period. Say Kamala wins interest rates go over 10% and the economy crashes just a little.. it's bound to have a real effect on rebates and what kind of deal you might get. Wheather good or bad I just don't know. But if you are a cash buyer you absolutely will be in the best position to grab a real bargain! Either new or slightly used. Half off anyone?

I was initially coming to say "scratch the dodge", as it appears that once you start speccing it out, it's $10k more than the f-150, and is still missing things.

And now I see that you have to go to the platinum to get the massage seats! For crying out loud, it's 2024. My 2002 Deville DHS had this! (granted, it was the absolute top of the Cadillac line at the time, but still . . .)

I think I'll wait to see the 2025 available options, and then decide. I've nickled and dimed myself up from $35-40k for a Maverick (which my leg doesn't fit, due to lack of 10 way seats) to close to $70k after granger's discount. I'm not paying $80k for all the other stuff just to get a couple of small things that I need!

@dochawk just a note, the King Ranch also has the messaging seats.

Taking away all the custom options is annoying. I expect Ford to continue that trend for 2025. Rolling more premium features into the higher trims makes Ford more money.

I'd hold out and see what happens.

I've been finding great deals on 2023s with higher miles which doesn't scare me, but I'd loose my ass on my truck and it's not worth it.

Apparently, it got dropped either for my24, or just after it started. In the most recent order guide posted, the platinum has "Unique multicontour seats with Active Motion® leather bucket with flow-through console and floor shifter" while Kings Ranch has "Multicontour Leather bucket with King Ranch Badge"
