2024 order or wait

I ordered mine in Oct and I still do not have a scheduled build date. I have considered canceling and ordering a MY25 also, but I agree with everything @wessermgm has said. Also, the order banks for MY24 opened in September, but production didn't start until January. Even if you order a MY25 in August, I'm betting production won't start until at least December and it will be the same truck for more money. As frustrated as I am, I'm waiting it out unless I find something on a lot. The way this has gone for me and a few others, you'll likely get your truck before I do even tho you ordered 7 months after me!

If Granger offers 4% below invoice again, that will still be higher than MY24, and Granger was the best price I could get anywhere near me. So yes, I think MY25 will cost more for the same truck.

I’ve seen more local dealers get pretty close to Granger’s price on in-stock inventory. As inventory continues to build, it’s only a matter of time for pricing to converge for dealers.

If Ford continues the path they are on, they will loose a large share of truck sales. Quality is continuing to get worse. I've seen more turnover in dealership staff in the past 12 months than any other time in the past 15 years and for me personally I would rather have a solid relationship than be treated like I'm at Walmart.

I would go for the 24 and hope for the best but prepare for the worst. In the meantime shop Silverado's or Sierra's...Ram too, if you want to rock like a hurricane.

I've been thinking of looking at the other brands.
Almost pulled the trigger on a 24 Silverado, 1500 high country with the diesel.
Great deal but a lot of reviews for diesel were mixed.
Issue is the def fluid.

I have a 2024 Elevation 3.0L w/premium package and max trailering package which I had to take a flight to buy. I hate the HDMI exhaust tips so clean bumper and 3.73 gearing was a plus. The engine is absolutely outstanding. Banks iDash is needed IMO to see important data because GM doesn't have it available on the infotainment other than a bar graph. I have had a pre-refresh LM2, refreshed 22.5 LM2 & now the 2024 LZ0. The refresh had 3 rear main seals fail which required a GM engineer to fix.

Problems: It's more comfortable to sit on a 1/2 rubber mat over concrete for hours than to drive 150 miles in those seats. Seats are about 10% better in Denali or AT4X trims. This is just my opinion but the infotainment system is probably the worst of any truck or newer vehicle I've been in. The audio will mute if you use your phones browser while connected, it will enable bluetooth on your phone to connect even if you have bluetooth off...I don't like that at all. The Bose audio sounds worse than a base model Ford truck from 20 years ago and is much harder to upgrade than most other vehicles. Finally unless you enjoy being blinded the reflection from the polished trim pieces is un-enjoyable.

Every brand has mechanical issues, problematic features, etc. I think Ford is the best overall truck on the market. I would rather them be #1 in recalls than #1 in class actions for ignoring problems.

I don’t really care. My lease is up. Need a truck…. Hopefully order gets picked up quickly. Dealer has allocation.

Yeah I just noticed you have a very similar order to mine and you have a 3 priority code f Granger (high volume dealer so I assume they had allocation?).

My dealer confirmed he had allocation when the order went in (he’s the sale manager) so I’ll keep you posted. All I have is my order # at this point.

Yeah, they assured me they had allocation and still do. I’m extremely frustrated right now, but there’s really nothing I can do and no one can tell me why I haven’t been scheduled still. Curious to see how things go for you

If it makes you feel any better, I got caught up in the 2021 plant shut downs. Wasn’t terrible but I ordered in Feb, missed my build date by 1 day in April (Kansas plant shut down the day before) and didn’t get my truck until late August.

Wonder what the heck the reason is for yours though. That’s so brutal!

I know Ford has had this problem for a few years now and there a several others in this forum that have been waiting since Sept/Oct also. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating, but at least it’s not just me. Sucks you missed the build date by one day! Hope it goes better this time.

I agree! I test drove a Denali and the stereo was horrible, absolutely horrible.

I think there was a TSB about a significant ECM update in late May 2024 to address CELs and DEF usage efficiency.
