Don’t do the bcm update there have been twow people with headlamp issues now. One is maybe two is not good!! Same issue

I’ll need to look into it and see what the commonality was between the trucks!

I had the headlight issue before the Update
The Dealer gave me Fords response:
SSM 51058 2021 -2022 F-150 Headlights Turn on by themselveswhen vehicle is off - DTC B1533
bottom line is-
Let the customer drive it till the parts become avaible in December 2022

It's a different issue, after doing the 2 part BCM update in FDRS, one of the headlights will no longer turn on or function.

I would like some clarification here please. Don't do the BCM update. Is this warning to not do something using FDRS you'd do yourself, or maybe the dealer? Or is this warning not to make any changes in the BCM using ForSCAN?

Ill clarify today. Last night I was out and about and was trying to let people know not to do it. Ford released a new BCM update. It is the 2023 strategy. I installed it along with three other people I know and trust sucesfully. We called it safe. Problem is it is not.

There is an issue being caused. it is isolated to the quad beam LED headlamps. ONLY the Driver side front low beam and DRL stop working after the update.

So for now it is best to not install it at all until it is determined what is wrong or why this is happening.

I still do not know why it is happening t the quad beam. The ACTIVE DSS and non active are the same in teh sense they have the same exact DRL circuit and low beam circuit. The HCM is only for leveling and bending.

Its best for now to avoid the bcm update. The two twucks that had the same exact issue were XLT but one was a 5.0 and the other a 2.7 one a 4WD and one a 2WD. So they arent the saem and have different files.

So as of now I dont see a commonality. Ill keep looking into it. Two with the exact same issue is not a coincidense

One area I'd investigate Jesse is if those having issues modified any of the lighting parameters via Forscan. My gut feel is that there's a connection there.

I don’t have FDRS or Forscan, but after reading this problem with the lights, could this update be related to the headlight recall? I think it was for flickering or something along those lines?

That recall was for 2022 builds between march and July.

I didn’t check the forum and did the update. Now my interior reading lights are all staying on. Anything that I could provide to assist in the troubleshooting? I have a 2021 PowerBoost with VIN 1FTFW1CD5MFB75327

@Jesse-Infotainment i can’t get the 2nd. BCM to show up. It says the first is successful but it doesn’t go away from the software updates. I’ve run it multiple times now. Says it is update G2161053-10.0. Any ideas of what to try to get it to show the 2nd update?
