DIY Bed Divider

The E-Track board holder is easily removed so you can still use your Ford cleats. While the E-Track cleats fit the Ford boxlink and will not fall out, they are a little loose. To tighten them up I added a small strip plate to my boxlinks to narrow the opening. This helps but means the Ford cleats will no longer fit, so I bought a couple E-Track cleats to use when needed.

If you zoom into the closeup photo below you can see the plate and hardware mounted to the inside of the boxlink.

Where did you source the brass cleats the 2 x 4 is riding in?

If I remember correctly I got mine from Lowes, but Amazon and lots of other places have them too. Just search E-track board holder.

Did you drill a hole in the e-track board holder for your safety pin thingy? Do you think the safety pin is really needed?

I think mine came drilled. Clevis pin is probably not needed unless you are offroading, but I like the professional look. I've left them out a few times and nothing bad happened. I designed my divider drop so the bottom board just barely brushes the bed mat.

Edit: I did drill them for the pin. I now remember doing the math to get the proper position.

I made mine with 2x4's mounted on the boxlinks.

Looks great! I wish Ford made these, so i wouldn't have to try and build one.

Since I lack your skills, I will probably just find a board wide enough to just graze the bottom of the bed floor, and have two "ears" that lay into the e-track holders. I did buy black e-track holders so there's that.

Thanks, didn't know much, or anything about e-tracks before this post, then looked it up. There's even proper fitting plates to replace the box-link, I found on Amazon.

Right! I too may get the E-track plates because they will fit better than even my modified Ford plates. Since E track cleats of all sorts are available why not?

As I now look at board holders it appears all are pre-drilled in the same spot as mine, though I may have drilled it larger to fit my pin of choice.

To join the boards I used a cheap pocket hole jig, screws and glue. Then filled the leftover holes prior to sanding and finishing.

If you go this route you'll want to practice drilling a few pocket holes on scraps because it's a little tricky getting everything in the correct position and holding it there while also getting proper drill angle and pressure. I found tightening the board and jig together in a bench vise worked great.

Not a chance of that happening for me! There's zero chance I could make all the cuts at all the correct angles and then fit it all together. My hope is as few as cuts as possible, and the divider will resemble an upside down top hat!!!

I'm the king of pocket holes!! Wood working consumes my garage to the point that I'm considering knocking out the back wall for more room. Angles are 8th grade geometry, which at the time, I hated.

I really admire those who excel at proper wood working. I could easily see becoming consumed with it! I only dabble and don't have any fancy equipment. Here's one of the aquarium stands I built a little while back that while simple, turned out pretty good, I thought.

I went simple on this as we were going to pick up a load of stone from a friend that wanted it all removed from their property. I didn’t want any stone sliding around in the back before I’ve even had the first oil change so partitioned the back to minimize movement.
I still need to add a piece that will run perpendicular to the last one, make a space for gas cans so they won’t move while going around the corners.

These are simple 2x4s and a 2x6, cut and stained.
