Did you see that in the factory service manual, or are you making an assumption? Plenty of composite pieces on engines that aren't single-use just because they're composite.
I read that in another forum. That's also why I forwarded the information with the preface of, "It's my understanding....." However, it also fit the mold as to explaining why the dealership replaced the pan of @Mosey 's truck.

I believe Ford currently considers the 10r80 pan, as well as seals and gaskets are reusable if not damaged.
I hope so! When I first read elsewhere that it was a one-time use item, it left me shaking my head. You noted that you "belive Ford currently considers the pan to be reusable". Perhaps the information that I read was outdated and unknowingly presented as current. In either case, from what you and @hotrodmex are saying, it sounds like it is incorrect.

There's probably some confusion because some composite pans ARE single time use. For example, the 2.7 oil pan. Which from its first generation was a notorious leaker.

Ah ha! That may very well explain some things. I can see where some confusion can exist...

How'd they fit 12qts of fluid into that thing simply changing the pan!?

Good question.
That would require the thermostat to be removed, unless it was hot when they dropped the pan.
And then there's the torque converter.

Although I think they can do a full fluid exchange if they have one of those expensive flush machines that heats the fluid and pumps?

Honestly I bet they just swapped the pan and put in the missing fluid and called it good, billing for 12.

I am wondering if the transmission cooler lines and radiator drain back? The max tow package has a different cooler than the standard that is placed next to the pan. Max tow lines run forward, presumably to a radiator.

Now that the work is complete I am going to do a cold fluid level check. Of course I am assuming the tranny was filled and checked correctly during the servicing.

I did not know the pan was single use. Thanks for explaining that.
Looking like that nugget of info that I passed along may have very well been incorrect. Wasn't trying to mislead you - was just trying to help / provide a possible explanation, as that was my understanding, as per another forum.

I'm so old-school that the idea of a plastic / composite pan still just blows me away!

I was unaware of any differences in the 10r80 cooling between any towing package.

Yes sir. When I was under trying g to get the darn plug out I saw there was as no cooler. I was expecting to see one as all of the videos show having to remove it for the pan drop. I’ll post a pick or two when I put my skid plate back on.

I believe the cooler is mounted up on the side of the transmission.
Ford relocated it from underneath the bell housing in 2021

I was expecting to see what you show in the first diagram. Given the heat exchanger (second diagram) I do wonder if it drains under gravity?

what I thought were lines for trans fluid to move forward are coolant lines for the fluid to water heat exchanger.

With regard to rounding off the drain pan plug: Consider a flare nut wrench or a crows foot version of the flare nut wrench. The extra ears on the flare nut wrench are specifically there to prevent rounding off.
