Took my truck in for an oil change and asked them to do an inspection since the bumper to bumper warranty is almost up. Guessing that included a road test. But 40 miles seemed excessive to me. Am I wrong or is that normal. I was kinda wondering what they were doing with my truck…

Did they do anything besides oil change?

Threads like this are exactly why I take photo of dash when I pull into service drive before I get out of truck. No weird lights and good odometer reading.

40 miles seems a bit excessive, although they did run one of my previous trucks about 20 miles when it was brought in for a vibration problem at highway speed, it turned out to be tires and they replaced them at no charge, so I considered the 20 miles to be reasonable based on the problem.

40 miles does seem LIKE a ton extra
the warranty part to sign off , should only be most 20
they have to ensure temps and gears all work...
i have had 3 cars inspected to get the FORD ESP on used vehicles.. never had 40 miles used
it was less than 10.
sounds like someone took a lunch break :ROFLMAO:

I asked them to do an inspection before the warranty expired. I figured 15-20 miles would be sufficient for a road test.

I read an article recently where a woman took her new car in for an oil change at a dealer and the tech test drove it and got in an accident. The dealer told her we are not responsible and to call her insurance which she did. It's now months later, still making her payments, car is sitting, and nobody wants to step up. Talk about being pissed.

Just were wondering on the service invoice does it say miles in and miles out ?
40 miles does not sound right
Service in and service out mileage was the same. He told me the tech took it to a drive from the dealer to yellowhead trail. (10 kms each way). When I jumped in I noticed the mileage, compared to drop off mileage and took a pic of my dash. Mileage when I jumped in the truck about to leave the dealer:

mileage when I dropped it off:

I dud not ask to have any issues in particular diagnosed. Just an inspection.

Let's see...

Lunch with the secretary. check

Nooner with secretary next town over so wife's friends don't happen to see you. check

Drive back to town. check

Tell tech to take it for a drive to check it out. check

Tech takes buddies out to show them the burnouts a new Ford can do. check

Tech drives it to car wash to wash off the shredded rubber in the wheel wells. check

Naaa forty miles doesn't seem excessive to me. You got off easy. (and cue the ba dump bump...insert colorful that's what she said here)
