Had the truck towed to the dealer a couple weeks back for the shifter saying it was not in park. Also had them do the "the works" service. Last week noticed this dent and trying to figure out if there was any way it was done during service. The dent is a perfect circle and centered. Waiting for the service manager to contact me.

Not sure what would have caused that but I'm certain you would have known if it was something that you did. Interested to hear their response.

Same...I looked at their lifts for the possibility they lifted it to the safety bar but no circle in it.

It looks almost like the sheet metal tried to pop out around a rivet, I can’t say for sure if there’s a rivet in that location though

Looks like something was left on the cowl panel and the hood was slammed on top of it

I don’t know how the dealer would do that (I’m not saying it’s impossible) but I’d be more inclined to believe it’s from the tow truck. Any idea what the tow truck looked like?

I was with the tow truck and rode with him to the dealer. Nothing put on the hood.

Do you have a picture of the underside of the hood damage?

If I had to guess, the lift the truck was on has a cross bar or something else from the ceiling, and the tech raised the truck too far to ram a rod (from a bracket or something) into the hood. It would be like using a press.

You didn't notice the damage when you picked-up the truck upon completion of the service? How much time passed between that day and your notice of the damage?

It was just over a week. Where it sits makes it go un noticed since you don’t look in that direction when you drive.

Tip: always do a thorough walk-around inspection before leaving any service facility that has had care of a vehicle. It only takes a minute or two, it's an easy and potentially beneficial habit to adopt.

So in fact it's quite possible that this mysterious damage, which isn't easily explained as being related to your dealer service visit (and certainly can't be proven as related after-the-fact), could just as easily have occurred as a result of some other unknown / mysterious 'mayhem' in that week+ after the service visit.

I honestly don't understand why one would go back to the dealer for such a time-delayed discovery, what can you possibly offer by way of assigning fault to the dealer and what can the dealer possibly offer by way of defense? That sounds like you are searching for a scapegoat.

Stuff happens, that's what insurance is for.

A truck, SUV. another SUV, and a sedan
Looks like the tech wasnt paying attention when raising the truck on the lift, and hit something on the ceiling
