It isn't what CR thinks. They compile data from the tens of thousands of questionnaire respondents. It is real-world data as reported by owners of vehicles, appliances, tools, and so on.
The questionnaires only go out to members. It's their world data.

The Nissan Titan is such a great truck, they're going to stop making it.
Yes, Nissan confirmed that the Titan will be discontinued after the 2024 model year:

Great! Consumer Reports suggest I buy the last year the Titan will be made. Good luck with parts...

Consumer Reports only collates the reports made by their subscribers over the prior year and notes the part or area that failed. I like places like carcomplaints.com for similar information that is make and model year specific. A vehicle may have serious design flaws that after period of years get corrected and so are not important is buying a new truck but very important if buying a used one.

Recalls can be very misleading as many manufacturers issue a recall to cover themselves from the feds and to buy time and negate lemon laws. I found that out when checking with an attorney for the wiper motor recall on my 2022 F-150 and was told that once the manufacturer issues a recall one cannot make use of the lemon laws as the manufacturer has indicated that they will fix the problem.

With the recall on my 2011 Chevy truck for the defective airbag injectors that could send shrapnel throughout the cab with fatal results the injector was not available in 2018 when I sold the truck. I waited for more than a year to get the new wiper motor for my 2022 F-150.

Had a 2023 Limited Powerboost for 11 months... averaged 3.4 electrical gremlins / codes for multiple issues per month, and the PB was not compatible with my house's transfer panel, even though Ford's advertising stated the ability to power a house in the event of a power outage. Gas mileage lower than my 2018 3.5 EB.

Ended up trading it in for a 2024 GMC Denali Ultimate. So far no codes, no issues, hands free Supercruise equivalent to/better than Bluecruise 1.4, which is not available on the F-150 of any year.

So yeah, I agree with Consumer Reports. Ford's quality and reputation have sunk to an all time low.
I have so many service visits with 22 PB Limited it’s crazy . One of the service writers tells other customers that I’m the only guy that should be yelling and screaming about his truck. So yeah I agree with CR and their review. My “hybrid” still gets crappy mpg in town when the hybrid should shine… my first and last Ford truck.

I don't give a lot of weight to what CR's says. They tend to make statements that lead me to believe they are not the type of folks I surround myself with that i know, like and trust.

All that said and despite all that's been said about the PB, after three years of being in production I will be picking up a new PB this Saturday. I was going to downgrade to a Maverick to save a little money, but my wife helped me see a full size truck is more desirable, I probably wouldn't be happy with the the Maverick and I would literally brake it.

Anywho, after 55k miles on my 21 truck with the 3.5 Eco, my final review of it would be I had a few items fixed that were convered under warranty and aside from those it's been a great truck.
Wish you all the best with your PB … Hope it’s everything you think it should be …

So wait... It's Ford's fault the panel you have in your house won't work with the truck???
Ok, so how is that Denali doing powering your house?

You are comparing 'Supercruise' to 'Bluecruise 1.4' that you admittedly have never tried...

Lastly, how in the world do you have worse gas mileage than your previous EB, when the PB is LITERALLY an EB with a battery....???

I'm sorry but your entire post is laughable. I would have bought a new battery to resolve the "electrical gremlins", popped a bowl of popcorn and watched the dozens and dozens of YouTube videos of people powering their houses, like Ford advertised.
I have never owned an EB but my 5.3 GM motor could almost match why I’m getting with my PB in town driving . The hybrid system in the PB is very small and truly inadequate to be much use the way it’s advertised. I have mine in the service bay over 20 times in 2.5 years I have had it.

And that is your experience... I also own a PB and have had (really) zero issues... My biggest complaint is my park assist crap keeps turning on when I dont want them on...

I agree the "hybrid" aspect of the truck is not really a hybrid and I think thats why there is no badging claiming it to be one...
Ive personally used the 7,200watt generator 3x to run my IT servers, firewall, switches and internet when power has gone out at my house. We used the basics; blower motor on gas furnace, fridges (x2), and random lights and such through the house. I have also seen multiple, MULTIPLE, Youtube videos of houses being powered after storms. Ive probably watched too many because our new house, (purchased in June) does not have a transfer switch yet, so I want to make sure I set everything up right when I do.
I sold my old, much smaller and proably 15x louder 4,300w generator and know I can run my truck all night without waking all the neighbors and have to refill the gas at 4am..

With your 20+ visits to the dealership, have they all been EV battery related? Or generator related? Im not doubting you, it happens, but Im asking for clarification on the actual issues with the truck. Thats kinda the gist of this whole Consumer Reports article.... they cant say 'PB is a crappy truck cuz the tailgate wont auto close when I hit the keyfob...' or 'my 18 speaker stereo system is crap' .... thats just stupid...

I had a Honda a 100years ago, for all the great touting Honda had for their cars back in the day, that car was tht biggest PoS I have ever owned.... If I had a dime back for every dollar I spent on that thing I could retire today. But it happens, sometimes ya just get a lemon... but all in all I love my PB and the added benny of a built in Gennie that can power half my house is pretty friggin cool..... but thats my PB experience.

I'm not sure I understand the point. Whether it is a 1000 Ford owners reporting their experience to CR or 1000 weighing in on this forum, it is still 1000 people who own these vehicles reporting their experience. What am I missing?

That it’s non-scientific anecdotal information, just like this forum.

Are there any scientific peer-reviewed studies in the auto business? The best we can do is consumer-based feedback and again, CR didn't trash anything, their surveyed members, including me, provided the info on which they reported. Hard to get much unbiased than that.

I'm curious then.....
Consumer Reports pegs the Powerboost as the most unreliable truck in the land. If Consumer Reports was such a valid source for such a declaration, then why would you purchase one?

I think because the difference between the two is:

CR:
What is your truck?
Rate your truck: One ⭐ to five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why did you rate your truck this?

And with no 'deeper dive' CR takes Joe Idiots, "I have a powerboost and rate it 1 star cuz my stereo sucks!" and throw it into the database...

The Forum people state they have an issue and are intelligent enough to understand the PBoost has nothing to do with seat belt chimes or DRL lights....

For what its worth, this just happened AGAIN today.... All my Park Aid Sensor crap got enabled automatically and I can turn off the rear, but for some reason CANNOT turn off the front. When I try I get the next error. Ive never seen this before... but it HAS to be, because I have a PowerBoost.... right?

I don't know why you don't douse it and burn it to the ground. ?

There's no way I could live with a truck that had buggy parking sensors. Ram, here I come. Take my money.

When they cal the the motor a hybrid … it’s supposed to be a hybrid .. I don’t care what “badging” is on it . 5 of my visits have directly related to the battery and HV battery system. I understand and am happy for all the trouble free trucks .. mine is nowhere near that … my experience is what I know and have to live with. I have given accolades a parts of the truck that work and I think are great … but overall it’s a troublesome pita …
