I have got to figure out where these modes are. I can't say I have looked for them, but just never run across them. 21 F150 5.0
There is a drive mode dial up on the dash, on the right hand side.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
Gentlemen, you schooled me. Which means I bought the owners manual about a month ago and just now cracked open to page 329. Trying Sport mode in 2wd.

No telling what else is in there.

Anyone remember when an owners manual was about 10 pages long?

Report on Sport mode.

Transmission did perform with much more confidence. Tip-in was better as well as firming up and slightly extending early shifts. I like that one.

It tightened up the power steering by adding a little more effort into it. Jury is still out on this one. I just drove 400 highway miles and I did not find it fatiguing. I may end up loving this one.

I was the proud owner of a 2019 F150 XLT with the 5.0 V8. I like you bought the V8 for the same reasons as you did. It was not until I had the truck for 23,000 miles that I realized that I did not buy the legendary 5.0 that everyone grew up with. This engine was anything but a 5.0. The engine was not a true 302cu in. engine it was a 307cu in. due to the redesign. The engine had a list of changes. The list was so long that it is easier to say, "The 5.0L version shares no parts with its predecessors." In fact the V8 engine used in 2018 thru 2020 trucks and cars has been DISCONTINUED. Good luck getting parts for these engines in a few years. OH I forgot to mention, you cannot repair the cylinders due to the type of materials used to coat the cylinder walls.
My research on the V8 has discovered that Ford only built that ill fated motor for 3 model years. They obviously knew it was a piece of GOLD so they started on the NEW/REDESIGNED 5.0 for 2021.
Questions: When buying the new vehicle did the salesman explain to you that the 2021 V8 was the NEW version of the old V8?
Did he explain to you that the oil pump was WET BELT driven? This means the redesigned oil pump is driven by the crank shaft via a belt inside of the oil pan. That is right, to change the oil soaked belt you have to drop the oil pan. Sounds like another Ford Idea.
Did he explain to you how the new engine has cylinder deactivation and how it worked? I could not find a salesman that could explain it or one who knew it existed.
My 2019 started using 2 quarts of oil in 7500 miles. The Ford solution was to detune my engine and put in a longer dip stick. That is when I decided I did not need it any longer.
Please forgive me for the length of this post but I needed to vent and you needed to know.
Wow. Lots of words and not a lot if info.

There have been 4 generstion of the 5.0 Coyote. Ita called refining and improving. Parts are not hard to find for any of the generations.

There have been no issues with the gen4 coyote. Ita a great engine. I ordered the 5.0 when i speced out my 22. Zero regrets.

I had a 2014 5.0. I had a 2023 5.0. I have a 2021 5.0. The 2014 ran very well, but I was replacing a 2002 4.6, the most underpowered Ford V8 I have ever had the opportunity to drive.

The 21 and 23 5.0 are fabulous motors. They can actually get out of their own way. Excellent Highway passing power. It is on par with or maybe even quicker than my 23 GMC 6.2

The 5.0L engine was the primary reason (reliability, performance, dependability, fun) I purchased a brand new 2023. Don't overthink it - enjoy it. I am a small block guy but, if I did buy a 1/2 truck turbo it would likely be a Ford (most experience with) followed by the newer GM 2.7 (i4). Be thankful you did not order a new Tundra Turbo (substantial problems)

Yeah, Ford has been building the 3.5 Ecoboost now for 15 years. And the current 3rd generation does seem to represent a mature and refined result of those many years of focus.

Also I admit to being a very pleased customer of the Ford 3.5 Ecoboost F150. I've been driving them for just short of a decade and personally owned 4 of them.

Still, having said all that, I still have a lot of respect for Toyota as an engineering prowess and their manufacturing capabilities. It's NOT the norm for Toyota to make such a flub in their manufacturing as they have with their embarrassing Tundra engine.
But If I was to bet on any manufacturer to identify and correct their manufacturers shortcomings both quickly (relative) and thoroughly, it would be Toyota.

I just wish I found the Tundra compelling enough. Too conservative. I wish they would go toe to toe with what they obviously plagerized.......... The 3.5 Twin Turbo Hybrid F150. ?

Punch/Counterpunch with the Powerboost! A good old fashioned arms race. At least keep Ford honest. Ford's getting away with sandbagging and even decontenting.

Wow....we brought this thread back from the dead it seems.

I have both...the 3.5 Ecoboost is the tow vehicle. The Whipple 5.0 is the race truck...they know their place in our family.

Those who are a little afraid of extra technology and modern advances often are a tad afraid of the 5.0L V8 but they are the reason for its efficiency and huge power carrying capacity. Yes we have 16 fuel injectors with a high and low pressure side, plasma transfer wire arc cylinder liners, variable vain oil pump, variable displacement, independently variable cams with dynamic lobe separation angle….BUT I don’t see much merit in the fear since we have seen 4 generations of this V8 with a good track record for reliability. Yes they advance it a few ticks every gen, but none of the leaps in tech have really been a negative imo. Ford does their homework. This motor powers their legacy muscle car and the best selling vehicle in the U.S, it’s solid. Enjoy.

I’ve had the 5.0 in four different F150’s going back to 2012 and had it in two mustangs, 2011 and 2018. Six different vehicles with zero issues. It’s a good engine but I run high test fuel and keep up with maintenance. Don’t know if that matters but will never buy a truck with a different engine. Had a ecobost in my wife’s expedition and hated it. So much lag but that was a 2016 so maybe got better but still wouldn’t buy again.
