I'm super pumped that my thread is STILL going after all these years! I went with the 5.0 and I love it. Went with the 3 year lease and then bought it. Love the Lariat. I haven't put premium in it though, I should do that at some point and try it out.
Note: Powerfolding mirros were not an option at the time - I bought a pair of King Ranch mirros and wired them to a switch. 
My 2005 F150 Lariat with the 5.4L 3-valve Triton V8 works fine after all these years. Disclosure - Its my weekend car so it only has 25K miles! Paid ~$35,000 with a number of options. I am thinking of a new F150 Lariat with a V8 but I am afraid I might be dissapointed. I like 13 mpg and no cynlinder deactivation.
Everything is original except the tires - only changed them because rubber doesn't last forever! I didn't know about the spark plugs. Just read the TSB. That looks like a major pain in the ass to remove the plugs if they break. Ugggggggg. I guess I should probably do that now at 20K miles vs later. Thanks!
wow, that thing is mint. It does have some rust from the road salt but becasue I didn't use it much in the winter, its not too bad. I did start spraying the underbody with Surface Shield Rust Protectant which I think helps. I know on my next truck I will do that on day one and not wait ten years later.
yeah, I got bit by this on my 07 FX2 and it ended up going to the dealer to get a helicoil installed. Plug seized and the top broke off. Terrible design. Luckily mine was still under warranty so it was covered.
