My other crew cab truck and all my cars have handles at the back for passengers and clothes bars are designed to attach to these handles. This is not the case with my 2022 F-150 where there are only some small plastic clips and nothing for a clothes bar's ends to latch onto. I don't even know if the plastic clips are strong enough to support the weight for that matter. Has anyone found a solution?

I have something similar that worked great with my Chevy truck but has nothing to hook on with the Ford.

I have found threads on the problem starting in 2012 when Ford eliminated the grab handles and put in the cheap plastic clothes hooks that would not work with clothes bars. People were not happy in 2012 when Ford made the change and they had a $40K truck with this defect and now it persists with $70K trucks.

Does no one use a clothes bar in their F-150 trucks?

Thought bars are made to use grab handles or a hanger hook?

Ford discontinued passenger grab handles in all its pickup trucks years ago. The hanger hooks are plastic and not going to support much weight.

I have had to add grab handles for the driver's seat in my trucks as the manufacturers would provide them only for the front passenger and expect the driver to use the steering wheel. My 2022 F-150 has the driver grab handle but Ford omitted them for the passenger seats in my super crew cab truck. And this applies to the F-250 and F-350 trucks as well.

I have decided that the only solution is to build a frame that rests on the rear seat and uses the rear seat belts to keep it in place. This is a problem only with Ford trucks as the other truck manufacturers still provide grab handles for the passengers in their vehicles.

Interesting that crew cab pickups have replace minivans for families and yet the Ford folks do not seem to realize that in addition to rear seat belts and side steps they should also provide grab handles for those getting into the rear seats. The same applies to the vehicle reviews that never mention this defect with pickup trucks.

I don't know what to tell you. My '22 501 has 4 grab handles plus 2 rear hooks and I've been using the clothes bar I posted above for a year now with no problems.

Mine has 4 grab handles as well. I'd be super pissed if I paid $5k over MSRP and they forgot to install them.

So if I had bought the Lariat model and paid an additional $10,000 for my truck I would have gotten the two passenger handles?

I view this as excessive and one more reason to I plan to buy a different make of truck next time to get as standard equipment what I want without having to bend over for Ford.

I have a '23 stx and it has 4. Even the driver gets one and doesn't have to yank the steering wheel to get in. and it has the 2 little plastic hangers in the back. I'd think if any trim it'd the xl-stx they'd not put them in. But don't see why they wouldn't put them in all trims across the board.

I'm confused. Do you have a crew cab truck or a extended cab truck? If the latter then I would agree the lack of passenger grab handles is an issue with a lack of a B-pillar.

If the former, the grab handles are on the B-pillar, much like the grab handles are on the A-pillar for the front passengers. It's an odd design choice for sure but it's a lot more accommodating to shorter occupants than placing the handles in their original position.

Have you thought about removing the clothing hooks and mounting your clothes bar into the mount for those hooks?

Ever think where a clothes bar should be positioned in the rear of the vehicle? Not all that complicated to think and to realize that having it a foot behind the driver's head is not a good location. It would also result in clothes hanging down and hitting the floor of the cab which is also not good.

There would not be hundreds of posts complaining about the Ford pickups if this was not a problem for many people who travel with their trucks.

If I was going to be full time using a rod in back I would replace the plastic hangers with something metal.
