I finally placed my order for a 22 PB platinum black appearance F150. I initially ordered FX4 but changed my order to CCD. On the Platinums you can not have both. I figured I would use the CCD more often than FX4.

Other than skid plates and shocks what am I missing out on by not ordering the FX4?

A sticker? I’m not sure if you’re missing any else between the two, I made the same choice on my Lariat order.

I have a Limited that came with CCD and it is definitely smoother-riding than my 2018. It doesn’t hop or shudder quite as much over bumps, which I assume is due to the CCD. I haven’t, however, driven a 2021 without CCD to see if I can really notice a difference in a more direct comparison.

I have a platinum PB with CCD and echo that the ride quality is amazing. I travel roads regularly with railroad tracks and washboard asphalt and it handles it wonderfully. My gravel driveway feels like smooth pavement!

I haven’t tested it offroad but it feels stable enough that I’m not worried.

FX4 package comes with rubber floor mats. IMHO I would defiantly go with CCD over FX4. You can buy aftermarket mats and skid plates for relatively cheap.

Excuse my ignorance, what is 'CCD'?

Other features of the Fx4 include locking rear diff (maybe on others too?), and hill descent control. I think the FX4 also gives a tiny bit of additional ground clearance due to the suspension difference. Mostly it looks like they sit a little higher in the rear.

The locking rear diff comes with most of the rear axles, the FX4 package just requires the upgrade to one of them. I'm not sure that the FX4 package lifts the rear end. The Max tow package definately does.

The FX4 does sit a bit higher than the std 4x4, and more so in the back than the front. The difference is small enough to where you have to see them side by side to notice it. But, agreed, if you don't do much off-roading, that $ is likely better spent elsewhere.

I tried the hill descent control a few weeks back for the first time and actually liked how easy it was to use. You should be able to notice when it's on because you can set the speed down to just 3-4mph if you want.

I have the FX4 package and my Platinum rides like a dream. I have not driven a CCD truck, but if it rides smoother than this, that would be something. My wife likes to take the truck on trips now, because it is much more comfortable to ride in than her MDX.
