I had posted on another thread that I had gone to my local dealer to see if they had received any RCSB since I’m going on 3 months with no build date. They had a white one told the salesman to get ahold of me if they get one with my specs. About a month later he reaches out. Long story short they want MSRP plus 5 thousand markup. Pass.

I’ve been out of work with an injury for about a month and a half when I got back I noticed that truck in our employee parking lot. I find out that a coworker bought it. I haven’t been able to bump into him but did speak to another coworker that told me that the owner of the truck has already had it in the shop for AC issues ?. I think that’s as they call it, “ The straw that broke the camel’s back.” That and no build date. I’m calling my dealer on Monday and canceling my order and wait to see what 2025 brings or maybe just wait to purchase a later model 2024.

MSRP plus 5K. That is so insulting. Especially from a dealer who should try to be helping you get in your ordered truck now.

Sorry it was such a pain for you. I'd look at ordering from a different dealer though or Granger when you spring for the 2025.

On order ‘22 RCSB.
Its not unusual to wait more than 3 months for a custom order. If its what you want is it not worth waiting for?
i waited 8 months for my 2022 RCSB
My neighbor waited 13 months for his 2024 Ranger. Just my $.02. Best of luck.

Davidwnuc it’s not the wait. I was willing to wait until it came in. I have 0% on my truck now so I was waiting to see if APR went down by the time my truck came in. But it’ll probably be by August or September before I get my 2024. Why not just get a 2025 and hopefully the kinks will be taken out. Hopefully my coworkers truck is one of those 1 in a million but I can wait for the truck I want.

no argument here. Whatever works best for. I just didnt want you to get overly frustrated with the waiting part of it.

Markup??? LOL, They can't hang onto the Covid Supply restraints anymore.

My custom ordered 5.0 F150 fully loaded Lariat with BAP came to ~$70K sticker and dealer is giving it to me for ~$55K almost $15K off. Prices converted to USD from CAD.

I have also thought about canceling my order and waiting for new model year. But knowing Ford, they will still probably take the same amount of time to deliver the 2025 order.

Remember the Regular Cab short bed is a endangered species..And who knows what restrictions will be in place then. Or price. I'm planning on keeping mine when it's built and if ordering from Granger you KNOW you will get the lowest price period.

I don't think the 2024 is worth all the trouble because Ford deleted most of the options, I'm about to cancel my order also, been looking a Silverado's, Chevy did not delete all the options from their RCSB.

If you’re okay with waiting, I don’t see why you wouldn’t just keep your current order in. Your coworkers truck having AC issues is likely a random issue, the 24s are only a refresh and not an entirely new generation so there shouldn’t be many teething issues.

Yes if you’re fine with a turbo four banger in a half ton ?

Guess I am, had my current F150 XLT RCSB for about 15 years, 4.2 V6. Don't think I need a 5.0 V8.

My thoughts, doesn't sound like waiting is the issue, the real issue is that it has been months with no scheduled build date. That's BS. I got confirmation from Ford the day my dealer put in the order and a build week and VIN the following day.

I'm pretty shocked that the dealer wants +$5K for the same truck that is on his lot. That would sour me on that dealer for sure. Or maybe the dealer just figures $5K is the price everyone has to pay to avoid a wait.

In 21 I made my first custom order (2021 Rubicon). It took nine weeks. Totally worth it. Decided I would never "settle" for a vehicle on the lot. If it was not exactly the way I want it, I would just custom order it. So here I am now, about five weeks into this process.

AC issues - 20 years ago we purchased a new Tahoe for my wife. About three weeks into ownership On Star contacted me and advised the fuel pump was going out and they made me an appointment to get it fixed. We did. Never had another issue with that vehicle.

Today's vehicles are assembled from thousands of parts from probably hundreds of sub-vendors. Makes sense that every so often one small part or sub-assembly malfunctions. That does not mean the entire vehicle is junk.

Having said that, I am going to look at a 65 Bug later today. Simple and fixable.

Just my two cents.

My $0.02.

Sounds like the issue is more with the dealer than Ford. OP is frustrated with how long the build is taking (I would be, too) and instead of easing concerns the dealer is just throwing gas on the fire.

So maybe don't give up on Ford, maybe give up on the dealer?
