That was well said. Yes Tesla is steering the industry now. Ford, dodge, Chevrolet is forced to produce something to try to compete. I personally don't think the time or infrastructure is capable of sustainable electric work horse vehicles. That's fords bread and butter.. I think politics and Teslas advancements in EV is forcing the other manufacturers hand way before their ready. It going to be years before anyone has a ev that has range and towing capabilities equal to gas.
Travel trailers, boats, flat beds towing heavy equipment, utility trailers, fishing boats, on and on. Mail delivery like amazom, usps, ups have the money and logistics to swap out a truck at noon or plan routes that work into the batteries life. Public transportation too.
Plain truth is gas engines are not going away anytime soon but now these manufacturers have to bring to market an alternative vehicle that won't come close to providing the working part of our economy.
Ford said they plan to drop ice in the next 4 years. I really don't want to own stock in the first manufacturer that shuts down gas engines.
I think the future is bright for hybrids.
Even Tesla hasn't promised that they are going to be a replacement for the plumbers pickup.
They are having fun screwing with everyone else. Any bets on the first major manufacturer to fold or sell to Tesla?
You know some tesla engineers left to create a travel trailer company that's pretty revolutionary. They took an 80kwh battery (40kWh standard size) and a tesla drive unit and added it to the trailer. The trailer is also a telescopic style w/ a roof full of panels. With such a feature set, it's got a price to match. They've already sold all allocations too. There's basically no towing penalty and you can charge DCFC both the trailer and tow vehicle at the same time. Some outside the box thinking.

Wait.
Ford said they are dropping ICE in 2027?

I'm extremely sceptical of that being anywhere near an official statement.

Even CARB has written in exemptions for ICE on 3/4 ton and heavier trucks for 3035 target. That's 12 years from now and it's CARB! Nobody is more unrealistic and yet........

Ford trucks with ICE under the hood are not going away anytime soon. And I haven't heard them say anything different.

There's no official Ford release on this but every thing I've read says Ford is committed to ICE engines until 2040

"According to the Windsor Star, Unifor Local 200 President John D’Agnolo met with John Savona, Ford vice president of America’s manufacturing, and Kevin Legel, vice president of labor affairs in Toronto for an update on the brand’s Canadian operations.

Although the fully-electric (and largely spoken for) F-150 Lightning is on its way very soon, Ford was very clear that combustion powertrains aren’t going anywhere fast. As far out as “2040,” said the union president."

That's a relief. I thought about buying a few trucks and storing them. Can you imagine what a zero mile f150 woukd be worth in 2035 when fird pulls the plug?
Besides if all cars stop requiring gas the world economy will collapse. If only fossil fuels for heating and lubricants were needed the cost of production would sky rocket. No one will afford to buy heating fuel.
This push to go all electric in all vehicles is a pipe dream. There will be advancements with more EV's but it will hit a brick wall. Can you imagine a line three hours long at charging stations and think of the power grid if 3/4 of the vehicles were EV. Need double the generation and a major build out of the infrastructure. California can't do it because they are giving billions to homeless and blacks that want compensation. They mismanage money.
I can see European regions doing it but not the USA. We have completely screwed our chances of becoming all Ev because of politics and corruption.

No, your XLT doesn't have the hardware for hands-free bluecruise. You need 2 more radar units (and have to wire them in), you also need the CMR Module, its driver camera, the 2 IR blasters and associated trim pieces. Once I get the radars up in my XLT (radars in-hand, brackets otw and harness construction has begun), I'm looking at adding the MME's CMR and its blasters / tracker which simplifies the process considerably. Granted I'd much rather spoof the eye vid feed to the CMR and remove the other hardware entirely.
I’m really going to be following updates on this as you have them. I’ve been toying with the idea of digging deeper into adding BC to my truck. I’ve already with the exception of the projector headlights pretty much turned my XLT into a lariat. Added the digital cluster a couple weeks ago. When you say the radars are you talking about the 2 that go under each of the headlights behind that painted cover piece?

Yes -- I've got 3 sets of seats, 1 lariat and 1 platinum (and heated XLT). Currently making raptor trimmed seats with a powerboost logo in place of the raptor logo while also having massage functionality.

Ford is trying to be funny with seat cushions but you can buy 2 of the cheaper front bottoms and cut the foam / attach it to the other side. They're mirror images sans a little bit of the outside section. I've got a new employee and a lot going on and multiple vehicles so I'm not in a rush.
