I originally ordered a loaded out Lariat but with the commodity delays ended up getting a Model Y which will be here this week. I still want a truck to do truck stuff, camping, haul the muddy dogs and stuff around so I'm considering to change my order to a barebones-ish XL with vinyl floor and seats, and a few things like the hitch, power equipment, and the emergency breaking stuff. Will I regret this? Is the NA v6 a decent engine if I am not towing?

It looks like it has apple car play included which is great. No heated seats or towing mirrors (without upgrading the engine) so I could add those aftermarket. Same with bedliner.

Does the XL have AC? Is there anything huge I'm totally missing that I should consider?

You can get a better idea what features are and are not included by looking at the order guide. For example, you can see all F-150 models come with air conditioning.

Wish my XL had heated seats, heated wheel and had the LED's. Other than that it's fine.

I’ve had my 2021 XLT 302A for almost a year now and will be getting a second truck this year and that one will be an XL.

I’m very fortunate to not have had any mechanical or electrical issues with this current truck but there’s a lot of annoying things about all the new technological stuff and have pushed me towards an XL to avoid them.

The only thing that I think I would really miss Is when I’m carrying a bunch of stuff and the doors automatically open when I walk up to the truck and also not having to put the key into the ignition.

unfortunately I will not be able to get the sweet STX package because in Canada you can’t get it unless you opt for the 2.7 L ecoboost that I really hate and I will be sticking with the regula degula 3.3 V6.

I think an XL with the 3.3 is one of the most solid options. There’s so much less things to break or malfunction and it’s almost like a blank canvas that you can mod however you want without having to follow Ford’s guidelines or requirements.

Love this feedback thank you. Yes I just want a simple truck. I can add stuff that I really want like towing mirrors or heated seats for example later, without spending the $10K extra in other crap to get there.

I drove a base XL for 11 years before I got my XLT. It had zero options. It served me well. The only option I wished it had was cruise control and power windows/door locks. After 11 years I sold the truck for 10k less than I paid. Not bad.

Great question! For me there were a few must-have items that led me to the 302A level. LED headlights, power adjustable passenger seat, sliding rear window, and adaptive cruise control. I would not want to do without any of those four items. I believe you could add the first three to an XL by aftermarket, but not adaptive cruise. If not for those, I would have been perfectly happy with XL.

I would definitely miss the 360 cameras and parking sensors at the Home Depot parking lot.

I'll get the rear ones I believe with the assist 2.0 - I usually back in so that works for me

I'm in a very similar boat. We got our Model 3 in Feb.

I just ordered a regular cab, XL 4x4, 2.7L. I have no doubt that this little truck will do everything I need, and more.

To be honest, your only regret may be not getting a 2nd Tesla. I fell in love with the 3... ;-)

I drove a F150 Xl regular cab for years with p/w p door locks. Its amazing how much enjoyment you can get from the XL version for thousands less than the upgraded models. Simplicity and reliability at its best. I think youll be satisfied!

If I could get a Model Y with vinyl floors and a second row seat delete for a flat load floor I'd be all over it!

My previous truck was a higher trim tacoma with a bunch of stuff I didn't ever use. I traded for an F150 XL and I love it. I did go for a few options like cloth seats, 2.7 engine and such, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much, I've added a lot of stuff myself physically and/or with forscan. The XL is still a great truck in my opinion, I use wireless android auto all the time, and can even remote start from the fordpass app.

(emphasis added by me)

Wait, you can do this? Or are you talking about how it unlocks when you put your hand behind the handle? I didn't think the F150 had automatically unlocking doors on approach.
