Not sure yet. Dealer says they can install then for a fraction of factory so…

I’ll address it when it’s time. As it is, I just swapped seats in my semi and took the heated seat out. So is it really a must have even?
we were in the high 20’s up here yesterday and man did they feel good!!

this is what I got

You wont regret it. More options = more chip delays = more shit to break, and Ford cant seem to find the parts or fit you in their repair schedule

My XL with the STX package is perfect. Again, I guess it is about what you want specifically. I hate leather seats. I don't need dual climate control. The smaller screen is fine and shows my CarPlay maps, etc as needed. I prefer the column shifter. I hate 20 inch wheels. My XL with the STX came with 18 inch wheels and it came with aggressive tread tires instead of street tires, so no needed aftermarket tire purchase. I have been extremely happy with it. My first Ford!

I don't think you'll regret it, I don't, not one bit, but it sounds like you're not ready to give up all the options though... I had a '17 Lariat, '18 Platinum and a '20 King Ranch and now I have an STX! Nothing against those fancy options, but I wanted to simplify. My recent 2020 buyback agreement/offer said the discount only applies to dealer inventory. I didn't have to use their offer, but after looking at and driving the XL/STX, it fit my thinking. All except for 3.73 gears, but there was not one available at the time for 500+ miles (I shoulda went 600+ miles ). Sure I can re-gear, but the thought of tearing up a new truck does not excite me a whole bunch.

Literally everything above a base truck is creature comforts and wants....
Ive gone from loaded leather trucks to xlt 302a.
If I coulda got heated seats in an XL I woulda gone that route.
While I really like the 12" screen its not a deal breaker.
I honestly think I like cloth seats more than leather for our weather up here.
Would love a heated steering wheel too but the 8k price jump to get it I couldnt justify.
Long term ownership I wonder if an XL is a better option as there is simply alot less to go wrong.....and theres alot to go wrong with all the electrical shit these days.
I dont think I'm ever going to go above the hi XLT trim again ever....and if Ford ever offers packages for lower trims like other brands(cold weather package say with heated seat and steering wheel) I would no doubt drop down to an even lower trim.
Agreed cloth is nice when it's cold up here in Alberta.
But leather would be so much easier to keep clean.
Dad, dog owner and camper speaking here, haha

Funny thing about a truck is the awesome utility. You can always add heated or cooled seats, steering wheel and etc. later on if you want to.

If you plan on keeping the truck long term don’t skimp on engine or driveline or bed size that suits your needs. Likely you will never drop the motor, change the diff or add 4x4 after the fact.
Funny enough, the one thing I wish my XLT had was 4 Auto. So, If I could I'd change the transfer case in mine...

Who are we kidding? Yes...you will FKN regret it. :D Buy once, cry once. My order initally started as an XLT, then i thought about the stuff the Lariat had that I would want to add to my XLT in the aftermarket like HID lighting etc....looked at how much it cost to do it, and decided to just order a high package Lariat. NO RAGRETS! It's a FINE ass TTTTTTTruck!

My only regret is not getting the 4WD on my 21 XL/STX Screw. I have about $5k in upgrades (lights/rims/tires/2"level/stereo upgrades) and absolutely love my truck. That puts me at $41k for the cost of the truck. I'd have to spend $15k more for a new truck that even comes close to the options I've added to my truck....and l'd still make modifications to it.

My two cents, unless you just can't live without the myriad creature comforts of higher trim level then save the money and hit the aftermarket.

Sounds like you’re already regretting your decision to go XL. An optioned up XL is a nice truck. I just went from an XL to an XLT and gotta admit the XLT is a nice comfy ride. Decisions decisions
I gotta say I did the same thing. XL with options to XLT with too many options. I like the interior upgrades in the 22 XLT. My 2016 XL with vinyl seats rubber floor was easy to keep clean but always had an Oder of sweat after the first year. I’m sure it was just all the plastic and vinyl.
I don’t regret the choice to order the mid XLT.
if money is a big concern, the XL would have been in my driveway. I bet you could save 10 grand or more.
as stated above led lighting is a big issue and halogen lights are weak. But u gotta spend allot to get em.

if you re-align your fog lights to where they should be it will make a world of a difference, every build I have seen the fogs have been pointed straight into the ground in front of the vehicle

led’s are better, but too rich for my blood to go up to 302A!

I’ll give that a try. I have LED fog lights. Super bright. Didn’t know I could use them that way without blinding on coming traffic. Worth a shot though.

Ahh yeah they both adjust pretty similarly there’s a bolt you can turn when you look behind that felt fender piece. If I remember correctly I turned mine 4 full turns to get it into being something like this

I complained to the dealer about them, and they aligned the fog lights under warranty.

I'm very happy with my XL. Upper trim options I have managed to live without, but would have made my XL perfect for me: 4WD-auto, push button start, and LED lights. I wasn't willing to give Ford another $10-25K for these amenities.

I like the XL trims on the Gen 14 platform. I think that the 102A build is the best deal in the lineup. STX is a solid option (and has the best grill of the bunch). I like bells and whistles too, that's why I got a 701a Platinum. But, IMHO, if I wasn't going KR, Plat or Ltd, I would probably do a 102a and spend $5k on mods to build that truck into a absolute beast for under $55k. Katzskins leather is nicer than stock leather (save for Platinum and Limited - and the upgraded Katzskins is nicer than them). I just think that you need to think about what the ultimate truck you want and decide what is the best means of getting there. If aftermarket tires, wheels, lifts, lights, etc., is something you want to consider then maybe an XL where you decide the options is preferable to what Ford thinks is best for a 302a.
