Been reading on the FB groups and in these forums.... seems like the 2024 Powerboost have significant problems like blown turbos and severe engine misfires at lest than 3K miles. Some less than 1000.

What changed that there now so many probs? Winder if ford will do a voluntary recall like Toyota did.

You must be on the wrong forum, here's where you need to go to find out more information of failing engines on an in-production 1/2 ton pickup:

In all seriousness, the 3.5EBs have been pretty reliable in the current generation. I personally would opt for the following engines in this order: 5.0 > 3.5EB > 3.5 EB PB. Usually the more complicated the powertrain, the more things that can go wrong.

You have to remember that only people that have problems are posting on social media. With all the trucks that Ford builds there are bound to be problems. Social media, because it is everywhere tends to amplify these problems. Also remember that the Pb 3.5 and the standard 3.5 are the same engine under the hood.

I have a 2021 XLT PB low miles, I do my own oil changes. Seems to run a little rough at startup then settles in. EV part is a little quirky, but the mileage average of 25 around town is great. The engine seems bulletproof. However, I purchased a aftermarket from the ford dealer 10 yr 150k extended on it with 7000miles when i bought used. Ypu never know with these hybrids.

I've got a 24 platinum PB with about 1300 miles. No issues or concerns at this point. Came from a 2022 3.5EB, wasn't shopping for the PB but I've been happy with it. Great power delivery, smooth transitions between electric and gas, 22mpg avg.

Same here. I have a 2024 KR PB with 600 miles @ 24mpg avg. No issues or concerns so far. Came from a 2021 KR PB with 22K miles and no problems with the engine or powertrain.

I have had the 5.0, 3.5EB, and two 3.5EB PB with the 7.2Kw onboard power.

You must be coming up on your first fuel stop at 600 miles??

Had a 21 XLT PB and drove it for over a year to find out all about all the hype. Went to a 22 XLT 2.7EB payload package truck.

My findings are the 21 PB was no more troublesome than the strictly ICE 2.7 EB truck just more quirky things in the PB to adjust to.

The changes are what people question and as always if that change is not what people like the people will freely voice an opinion on the changes.

No different than adding auto stop start to the ICE vehicles and NOT having a CONSTANT off setting once set.

Not ready to buy a F150 PB but would consider a Maverick Hybrid if and when that time may come.

There has been a couple of posts here about blown turbos for '24 PB trucks. Ultimately there's not enough information out on these trucks to really make a judgement. One would expect that if there's a bad batch of turbos for PBs, then it would also affect 3.5 EB trucks since they are the same engine. The biggest issues I've seen with many active members having them in these forums usually end up having threads that are multiple pages long. A good example is the heat exchanger issue with PB exhaust, or the max tow axle bolts.

Honestly it sounds like they fail super early. That's actually a good thing...if you want something out of the factory to fail, ideally it fails early. So if it's a huge concern for you, maybe hold off until December, and there will not only be more time for more data to come through, but also you're going to see year end deals.

Or just ignore it, get the extended warranty, and just buy the truck.

NO engine problems. That being said transmission sensor and a couple of other things ... but NO engine issues whatsoever ... Traded by 2021 PB w/ 85K miles for 2023 ICE a year ago due to transmission sensor problem (that could not be fixed).

I don’t think there’s an issue. Considering there wants any changes to the 3.5 for 2024. So 2021/2 to 2023 3.5 engines should all be seeing these issues as well. It could be some random failures and social media algorithms.

My 22 3.5 with 26k on it has been flawless.I have a 24 PB being built next month for my new truck and I don’t anticipate anything going wrong with that 3.5 either knock on wood lol.

I have about 5500 miles on my '24 PowerBoost King Ranch and have had exactly zero problems. I did just replace the tires but that was because I hit some unavoidable road debris and slashed the sidewall so I'd argue that is self-induced and not Ford or General Tire's fault.
I'm on a couple of Facebook PowerBoost pages too and haven't seen any posts like what is being discussed. Still, the engine is the same as the standard EcoBoost and I haven't heard or read any crazy stories about those either.
I really don't think any Ford engine found in any F150 today is the trucks "weak point". They have all proven themselves to be extremely reliable.

23 Platinum PB and I am getting between 17-22mpg. No major problems so far knock on wood except the 12V battery charge issue and the transmission aux pump code. Battery is being monitored and once in a while I hook it up to a trickle charger. Will probably replace it in the next year or two with Odyssey battery and transmission aux pump code has been addressed with a reset or reprogram. Some owners have gone through some difficulty with this one! Engine in this truck has been solid so far!
