Is anyone else having problems connecting to Android Auto? Getting it to connect is hIt and miss. Sometimes as soon as I start up it connects, other times it will not connect during an hour drive. And sometimes it drops out or locks up.
If I turn off blue tooth and turn it back on that often gets it to connect. And before you say use the cable that connects but in a whole it says USB cable connection lost. And yes I have tried 3 different cables.
One of the Mangers at the dealer that I bought from said ,"all I hear about Android Auto is nothing but problems"
Does anyone have a solution? Anyone heard about a software up date?

I dont have those issues. The most I have is wireless losing connection randomly, but I can select it on the menu and it fires right back up. I have zero issues when using the cable. FYI, this also happens on my wifes escape, it never happens pn my maverick when using the AA Wireless auto adapter. It is most definitely a Ford issue.

What phone do you have? I had a samsung galaxy s20, broke the screen, decided to replace the 5 year old phone with a oneplus 12 and that one would not stay connected wirelessly to any vehicle via android auto. Returned it and got another samsung galaxy (s24) and now I have no issues.

You can usually hit the power and forward buttons at the same time for about 6 seconds to reboot sync. That usually fixes AA sync issues.

A moto G power. Which has worked just fine in a Hyundai and in a Jeep. And like I said sometimes it connects right away and other times it will not connect. And most of the time turning off blue tooth off and then back on, on the truck gets it to connect. No difference turning off and on Bluetooth on the phone or restarting the phone. As I stated a sales MANAGER at the dealer that I bought my truck from days all he heard is problems with Android Auto.

Fixed it? Or causes it to connect, I have done that many times and sometimes it causes it to connect. Turning off and on Bluetooth works about 80 percent of the time. Restarting the system works about 30 percent of the time and takes so long to boot up. Phone works perfectly with a Jeep and Hyundai

It doesn't happen much to me, but when it does I just restart Sync by holding the volume power button and right seek button for a few seconds. The screen will go black for a second, turn back on and the AA connection is fixed.

Yes .... he told you that to get you out of his dealership. He's probably an IOS fan boy, too.

No real AA issues on my '21 (nearly 4 years and 71K miles) like what you are describing. Years back I had some, but it was usually a bad cable. I've updated my own modules (e.g., APIM) over that time, so ...

Same here. I have occasional initial handshaking issues, but it is maybe once a month or less often.

I have found that if I happen to be using the phone anywhere within range of the truck, and end the call then get in the truck and start it, that the phone will absolutely NOT connect. Sometimes shutting the engine off, and opening the Driver's door, reclosing it and restarting the truck makes it work again. Let's face it, this is a Rube Goldberg arrangement that Ford devised to keep selling trucks when they claimed they couldn't "get the chips" to build in the NAV package, and Sirius XM Radio. The Nav I don't mind, but the Sirius XM really sucks.

No issues on my 2021 EB Lariat, using Samsung S23 Ultra. Maybe one time I saw a message about "wireless connection unstable" ... But it fixed itself. Make sure your phone and your head unit have the latest updates and you are using "genuine" cables instead of Amazon knock-offs. I have never had an issue when plugged in via USB-C.

I agree that the "manager" you reference may be an Apple F-boy. I have run into this a couple times with other brands. I have a Mercedes and a Jag too, and the MB didn't even come from the manufacturer with Android Auto, just CarPlay. I had to have it coded in by an independent programmer, and it works 100% now. All the MB dealerships in my area basically told me to just get an iPhone and that it wasn't possible to use AA. The dealers were wrong, since it was just coding, and obviously the hardware for AA was in the vehicle from the factory. It seemed like MB was in bed with Apple since that's all that was supposedly offered. My Jag had some issues with even a wired connection to AA. Jag Dealer said there was nothing wrong and also said that an iPhone would be a better option. I had been using a generic Amazon USB cable, but when I tried my genuine Samsung USB cable that came with the phone the AA in the Jag worked just fine. So again, I think there may just be some biases out there toward Apple because it just works, even if you use a piece of spaghetti to connect it. But I'm never leaving the Android platform, so I deal with each car and ultimately found a way to get each one working perfectly.

I haven't been able to connect my Android to the screen either. I've got phone and text but no connection to the display. It tries but it fails. I've tried new cables and a different plug but no luck. My Android is 5 years old. It shouldn't be a problem.
I have phone, I have text, and I've been able to listen to you tube videos through the WIFI connection but that has limits. I can't connect things like google maps to the screen at all.
Mechanically, the truck is superb. But the electronics are pissing me off.

Mine usually works, but sometimes it just doesn't connect. And sometimes it just disconnects for no reason. In my humble opinion, that whole "work-around that Ford devised is a true "Rube Goldberg Arrangement!"
