@Ford Motor Company - are you seeing any options to conclusively fix this issue as some reports show that tearing the dash off isn't working in all instances?

Interested to hear any post-repair stories anyone has. I'm thinking of just selling and starting over.

My dealer here in N-TX is no longer performing the dash out/ evap core replacement for the moment because its wholly solving the issue.

If dealers aren't willing to perform the dash out/evap core replacement, what are they doing about the issue - when the issue is (or has been) verified - and particularly for someone under warranty.

I have a 23 XLT Powerboost and my a/c would stop blowing air when idling. After the third time this happened I took in to the dealership. They replaced the blower motor. I have not had a problem ever since. I’ll attach my service report from the dealership for you guys to see.

Thanks Tony - unfortunately, the crux of the issue in this thread is about cool air stopping after the system has run for some time (been seeing different times) then, needing to be off to start blowing cool air again. The consensus was an evaporator freezing up but that may not be the issue as it seems Ford may have stopped their TSB fix on that.

@Ford Motor Company - it would be nice for you to weigh in on this for us.

Excellent dealer response! @Ford Motor Company take notice.
I have been experiencing the same issue since April of 2022. I have a 2021 F150 Lariat 502A. Took delivery 10/20/2021. Overall been very happy with the truck and services from my selling dealer Ray Varner Ford in Clinton, TN.

The issue just like many others, after a period of time, maybe 30 minutes or 6 hours, the system stops emitting air out of the vents even though you can hear the fan blowing behind the dash, even able to run fan speed up and down and change airflow on dash from defrost, main, floor, or any combination without positive effects. Just like others, I can turn it off ( just the HVAC and or whole truck) for approximately 15 minutes and system will resume working as intended.

As I don't use the truck everyday I put up with the inconvenience for about 2 months as it would work fine on most trips under 2 hours. Finally I reached out to the dealership in June of 22 and they were busy and ended up being August before they could get me in. Still they have been great trying to resolve my issue. Truck was repaired in September of 22 with parts shown on attachment, and worked fine until July 23 and resumed its non blowing issue. Contacted dealership, they checked it right away and ordered parts. Once parts were in they repaired it again, same parts replaced. Picked it up at 1:30 pm and by 5pm that same day it stopped working before I even got home.

Attached is my two letter letters explaining issue to service department and the last repair invoice that's the same as repair from 2022. So now 3 parts all exhibit the same anomaly, I doubt it's a component issue, but what's talking to the component.

As touched upon by another poster, I too believe this is a software issue not a component failure issue. Electronics/ microchips typically either work or don't work, no intermittent functions unless there is an electrical short / ground issue. That said the chips do what the programming / signal tells them what to do. I find in AUTO mode my issue occurs quicker that if I manually set my temp, fan speed, and airflow controls. Still it stops blowing either way.

Have you gone back to the dealership (or another one) or are you giving up? My workaround lately (only tried it once, but it work) is to manually set the temp at 70 (or higher) and control the fan manually. Not sure if I want to do this for the rest of my life w/ the truck - that I've only had 5 months ('22 F150 XLT)

I will return to the dealership, not giving up but need to examine the issue from a different perspective. Replacing the same part for a third time likely won't change my condition.

Your work around sound valid, but agree with your sentiment.

If you've read all of this thread, you've seen another solution that involves complete removal of the middle console and dashboard to replace the recirc duct. As others have noted, this is not something I want done as I assume it would never go back 'as good as new'.

I’ve had the same problem on my 21 Powerboost Limited since the truck was new. Dealer said the TSB did not apply to my VIN. They finally agreed to replace the sensor this year. I thought the problem was fixed, but it happened again last weekend. The evaporator is in fact freezing over with ice. I also learned that you do not have to shut the whole truck off to defrost the ice. Just turn off the compressor by deactivating the a/c and max a/c buttons, but leave the blower running. In a very short time you will feel the air coming out the vents. When the air is at max velocity the ice is gone. Push the a/c buttons to turn the compressor on. That is easy enough while I’m driving. But the real problem occurs if I’ve left the truck parked even for a short time with the a/c on to keep my very large Newfoundland dogs cool and it freezes up while I’m not in the truck. The temperature will rise rapidly inside the truck and will kill the dogs. It infuriates be that I can not get this problem fixed.

I have found if I set the temp manually to 70, it's cool inside and doesn't ice over. Very annoying. 2023 XLT. Do we know anyone that has had fix that conclusively resolved this issue?

Bought a new XLT and had for less than two weeks. 10 minutes into an hour and a half drive noticed AC didn’t seem to be keeping up. Barely blew any air the rest of the way home. Turned it off for various amounts of time (1 - 20 minutes) and would get a minute or two of life back out of it before freezing up again. Drove straight to the dealer when I got back to town. Service called two hours later and basically said that it’s a known issue, but what used to be the fix (replace evaporator) doesn’t consistently solve the problem. Don’t love the idea of having the dash of a brand new truck being taken out by the service department anyway. But, to hear that their hope is Ford will push a programming resolution out soon isn’t very promising based on multiple forums. Been an issue for years and they haven’t figured out that solution yet. Incredibly frustrated to say the least and trying to decide how hard to push back on the issue while the truck is still barely any miles.

Ford contacted me yesterday about my truck. They confirmed they do not have a resolution at this time. For customer goodwill they are giving me free schedulued maintenance up to 36,000 miles.

Not sure I'll take them up on it however since getting an oil change at any dealer around here is such a lengthy and painful process. I can can change my own oil in about 15 minutes with Mobil 1 and a motorcraft filter for less than $35. I appreciate the gesture, but I'd rather it get fixed.
