Pls post what you hear at the dealer? Did they want you to demonstrate the issue?
Thanks... at least they got it done regardless of which one they used. I have been timid about it thinking they are trying to improvise a fix to reduce their recall costs.
I have been using 70 as the lowest and thought that was working... but today, while on 70, it stopped cooling in ~15 min. I'm in GA - humidity hell. I turned it off and sweated for 15 min. and turned it back on and got on home.
In GA where humidity is horrible - I froze up today in ~15 min. of driving; drove on another 15 and turned it back on and it was working. I thought I had a way around it by no putting the thermostat below 70, but that's not helping.
I know this sounds strange for an A/C, but last year, mine also stopped - and usually at the most inopportune times like on a 200 mile trip on a hot day driving into the sun. I learned after trial and error that keeping it at 70 seemed to keep it cooling to some degree. It's shocking to me...
Couldn't agree more - let us know if you find out more. In the interim, I manually hold mine at 70 on cool and that seems to keep me cool and it doesn't freeze up (yet)....
I have found if I set the temp manually to 70, it's cool inside and doesn't ice over. Very annoying. 2023 XLT. Do we know anyone that has had fix that conclusively resolved this issue?
If you've read all of this thread, you've seen another solution that involves complete removal of the middle console and dashboard to replace the recirc duct. As others have noted, this is not something I want done as I assume it would never go back 'as good as new'.
Have you gone back to the dealership (or another one) or are you giving up? My workaround lately (only tried it once, but it work) is to manually set the temp at 70 (or higher) and control the fan manually. Not sure if I want to do this for the rest of my life w/ the truck - that I've only had...
Thanks Tony - unfortunately, the crux of the issue in this thread is about cool air stopping after the system has run for some time (been seeing different times) then, needing to be off to start blowing cool air again. The consensus was an evaporator freezing up but that may not be the issue as...
If dealers aren't willing to perform the dash out/evap core replacement, what are they doing about the issue - when the issue is (or has been) verified - and particularly for someone under warranty.
@Ford Motor Company - are you seeing any options to conclusively fix this issue as some reports show that tearing the dash off isn't working in all instances?
Interested to hear any post-repair stories anyone has. I'm thinking of just selling and starting over.
