Air Conditioning quit working/ blowing

5/11/23 Update: Got my truck back yesterday afternoon. The dealer could not replicate the problem, even after driving it 160 miles by two different people. Discussed it with the service rep and they tried a few different things to try and make the issue happen, including the same low fan speed coldest temp setting like when it happened to me. I didn't get any answers or resolution to the issue. Truck now has just over 800 miles on it.

This was my fear. Mechanics at the dealer cant/ wont fix anything unless its replicatable. I guess congrats on the higher mileage?

Yep, exactly what I was thinking... I mostly wanted it documented in case it happens again in the future.

Another aspect that I considered was that on the day when my A/C froze up or stopped cooling and blowing, I had driven through a patch of rain for a few minutes and then it was fairly humid after I passed through it. Even though I had it set on inside recirc, I wonder if there is still some outside air that would make it in. Kinda like when there are control burns in the area or if a car is burning oil you can still smell it... I wonder if that humid outside air added enough moisture to make it freeze when it otherwise may not on a hot, but dry day?

My truck did the same thing today. The air quit blowing but you could hear it blowing behind the Dash. It sat for about 20 minutes while I was in a store. It started to work again but about 20 minutes later it stopped blowing again. It didn't matter what setting I tried. This is unacceptable on a $70k truck.

I know the AC going out, air flow stopping and evaporator core freezing issue is still on going but i've been reading TSB 22-2089 isnt valid anymore. Does anyone have a valid replacement? I'm going thorugh this issue right now and want to have all my ducks in a row before I head back to the service center.

That sucks man. Can you describe what A/C system settings you were using, how long you had been driving when it started, and the ambient conditions? Im really curious, Thanks

This just happened to me today for the first time on my 22 XL (manual controls only). I almost always drive with the fan speed set pretty low at only a 1 or 2 fan speed since it usually freezes me out. After a few hours of driving around there was almost zero air flow from any of the vents. After a bit of digging on here this seems like a fairly common thing.

I just bought some acreage out in the desert where I plan on building a little vacation house, and last week I was out there I left my truck idling for hours to keep my dog cool and it had no problem keeping the cab chilly. It was around 98F that day, and I was running the fan a bit higher to keep up, around 4 bars of fan speed. Whereas today back in the non-desert part of the state where I primarily live, it was a moderate 75F and that’s when it gave me problems. Waited an hour, came back to the truck and A/C is ice cold again

I am having an ac problem similar to what people are talking about. I have 2022 lariat powerboost with about 700 miles on it. I can hear air is blowing hard behind the dash but I can't feel the air anywhere -not through the vent, nothing to the floor, nothing to the windshield, nothing to the backseat.
this happened in about 15 mins into driving.

Dropped mine off at the dealer on Monday. This should not happen and I refuse to live with it.

dealer tells me that it needs new evaporator core and sensor. takes 3 to 5 days to get the parts. keep my fingers crossed.

The easiest way to know if you need a new evaporator is to use the PID in Forscan. Set the EVAP temp and Vent Temp. If the Vent temp is lower than the EVAP temp you need a new Evaporator. Really need the sensor but ford only offers the entire HVAC Box. They have to pull the dash.

That is the test the dealer is to do in the TSB. As fas as I know the TSB is still relevant and active.

Edit - The TSB is gone and has been replaced with a SSM. the issue is known though. The WSM now has the proper testing process.

My '22 Tremor does the same, seems mostly on long highway drives. Always have it set to medium on the auto button and 20.5C for temp. I find its worse when I have passengers and/or when there is a big swing in humidity outside while driving. I have 25,xxx Km on the truck now. I'll live with it rather than having the dash come out.

I've had my 2023 6 days and this has happened to me twice.

Both times in the morning, driving to work, XLT, set to low, fan on 3 or 4, in manual, recirc mode.

Stopped blowing, despite any fan setting, to fix, turned a/c button to off, while fan still running, eventually air started blowing and I turned the a/c button back on and it worked the rest of my trip.

Has never happened in the afternoon.

We should really talk about service levels at dealers: no one will look at your car unless you leave it with them for 3-5 days. It's a problem.
