Well, it was worse than predicted. Exactly 1060 miles in 16:44 total time. We stopped a bit more than I thought we would, including a 35 minute dinner break at a DQ in Stephenville, TX. We hit some heavy traffic due to construction going around Dallas and really high volume congestion out I20...
Im doing 1070 mile run from GA to Texas tomorrow. I’m going to predict we’ll get 21.5 mpg with overall average speed including stops of 67.5 mph. Tune in tomorrow night to see how we did.
Update: the TSB worked for me, no more evaporator freeze-ups. The air coming out of the vents is not quite as cold as before. So instead of running at 72 F to be comfortable, I have to set at 68 F. Not a huge deal, just different.
The software updates appear to have solved the evaporator freezing issue for me. I do notice the AC does not blow as cold as before. It's still OK, but I find I have to run the fan a bit higher than I did before the update.
Had mine done last week. Too early to tell if it's working.
I've not noticed any difference in shifting, but have not been watching it either. The 1-3 shift never bothered me anyway. Mine always shifts 1-2 when towing my camper, 1-3 without. Now I've got something to look for.
Closing the loop on this thread: There is a new fix for the evaporator freezing up issue. It's a software update on on the HVAC control module. Just got my truck back today from the dealer after performing this service along with finally getting the wiper motor recall completed. Also, thanks to...
Late to the party, but I can confirm that it does. We did a 4400 mile trip towing our camper last September. I changed the oil right before we left and reset the oil monitor. At the end of the trip the oil life was down to around 10-15% remaining.
I changed it a few days after our return. I...
Over Christmas and new years I drove my '22 PB 2100 highway miles RT between Atlanta and San Angelo, TX. Moving average speed (not including stops) was right at 73 mph. We ran between 75-80 when possible for most of the drive. The trip is mostly interstate with the about 100 miles of 75 mph...
We recently completed 31 day a 4,400 mile trip trip from GA to CO, returning via NM and TX. We were towing our Lance 1685 camper, 6,400 lbs GVWR, but probably about 5,600 lbs when loaded. Our camper is really boxy and a foot wider than the E-Pro, which has an impact on fuel economy. Overall...
We left on a 31-day 4400 mile Georgia-Colorado-New Mexico-Texas-Georgia road trip in in late August, towing our camper, and it was super hot until we got to about Kansas. The AC froze up a couple of times even at 70. Running on recirc helped, but in southern Illinois where it was 98 F with a dew...
Ford contacted me yesterday about my truck. They confirmed they do not have a resolution at this time. For customer goodwill they are giving me free schedulued maintenance up to 36,000 miles.
Not sure I'll take them up on it however since getting an oil change at any dealer around here is such...
They diagnosed my truck and as expected the recommended action was to replace the whole evaporator assembly due to a faulty sensor. However, parts were not available so I got my truck back until they could get them.
Today my service advisor called me to tell me what he learned. First is that...
I took my truck in for the same issue, diagnosed as above. Recommended action was to replace the whole evaporator assembly due to a faulty sensor. However, parts were not available so I got my truck back until they could get them.

Picking it back up from the dealer today. I'll take it back when they get the parts.
We should really talk about service levels at dealers: no one will look at your car unless you leave it with them for 3-5 days. It's a problem.
Confirmed that the evaporator must be replaced. The service writer says "repair for that will be a few weeks out...."
I've asked him a bunch more questions about this. I'm concerned the parts availability is going to be a significant issue. No way am I letting them keep it if all they are...
I just dropped my 22 PB at the dealer for what sounds like the same problem. It's acting like the evaporator is freezing up. The air coming from the vents is super cold, too although now I wish I'd stuck a thermometer in it.
The service writer says he's seen several F-150s with the same issue...
